Course Overview
Diamond Creek Golf Course, located along Dobbins Road in Banner Elk, North Carolina, presents an exceptional mountain golf experience defined by flawless conditions and attentive hospitality. This private 18-hole layout challenges players with its natural terrain and meticulous maintenance, inviting golfers who appreciate a course where every blade of grass is deliberately cultivated. The setting offers panoramic views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, each hole framed by rugged tree lines and mountainous contours that offer both shelter and a visual backdrop rich with seasonal color.
The course’s design emphasizes thoughtful shot-making rather than sheer length, delivering a test that suits accomplished players but remains approachable to skilled amateurs eager to hone their game. Rolling fairways lead to fast, undulating greens that demand precision and weight control. Bunkers are strategically placed to guard these greens, their white sands creating sharp contrasts against vibrant greens and autumnal woodland hues. As elevation shifts throughout the layout, players must adjust club selection carefully, especially when the mountain winds influence shot trajectory and tempo.
Service at Diamond Creek matches the course’s high standards. Upon arrival, players are welcomed by attentive staff who provide valet parking and promptly deliver clubs to carts, while knowledgeable caddies accompany players to offer insights on course strategy and conditions. Rustic yet refined snack shacks dot the course, providing timely refreshment in harmony with the mountain atmosphere. The clubhouse maintains this blend of elegance and rugged charm, making it a comfortable retreat after play.
For those planning a visit, walking is encouraged to fully engage with the terrain, though carts and caddies are readily available. Best experienced in spring through fall, Diamond Creek offers an immersive and demanding golf challenge, paired with warm southern mountain hospitality. Whether seeking to test a precise short game or savor stunning vistas, this course stands as a distinctive destination within North Carolina’s high country golf scene.

Diamond Creek is a special place when it comes to scenic views in the mountains of Banner Elk North Carolina. When you arrive you are greeted with staff who valet your car and grab the golf clubs and place them on carts for you without hesitation. A caddy is provided for you, and the one me and my playing partner had was great. His focus was for us to have a great experience no matter how we played. The course is as pure as it gets. I have had the privilege to play at many great courses and this one still holds a special place in my heart as the best course I've played to date. I would go as far to say not a single blade of grass was out of place, and the unique style of the snack shacks throughout the course and club house provide a rustic yet elegant feel that blends well within the vibe of mountain golf courses. My favorite part of this course is the hospitality provided on the course and even within the club house. I've had the privilege to play there multiple times and every single time they welcome you with open arms.
