The Golf Club at The Equinox

Manchester Center, Vermont, USAGreen Mountains

Set amid Vermont's Green Mountains, The Golf Club at The Equinox presents an 18-hole parkland course characterized by rolling elevations, carefully contoured greens, and a peaceful, natural setting. This semi-private layout invites mid- and low-handicap golfers to engage in a strategic round enhanced by scenic views and classic resort hospitality.

Course Overview

The Golf Club at The Equinox, located in Manchester Center, Vermont, offers an 18-hole layout that combines classic resort golf with the understated beauty of the Green Mountains. This semi-private course lays out in a traditional parkland style, weaving through open fairways framed by mature hardwoods and scenic elevation changes that test a range of shots without overwhelming the player. The design encourages thoughtful strategy, demanding careful club selection especially as the terrain shifts from gently rolling to steeper hilltops.

Players encounter well-maintained greens that present varied contours, requiring precise approach shots and a steady putting stroke. While some holes share similar yardages, the subtle changes in elevation and green complexity make each hole a distinct challenge. The course caters primarily to mid- and low-handicap golfers who appreciate a measured test, though it remains approachable enough for those still sharpening their skills.

Surrounding mountain views and seasonal foliage reflect Vermont’s character, offering tranquility as well as dynamic winds that influence shot making throughout the round. The course’s footprint does not overwhelm the natural land but flows with it, delivering a connected experience between play and place.

Amenities include a clubhouse with dining spaces, although some facilities reflect the resort’s historic roots rather than modern renovations. There is no driving range or dedicated practice area onsite, which is important for visitors to note when planning their visit. Cart use is standard given the terrain, while walking remains a challenge due to elevation changes.

Expect courteous and attentive staff who contribute to an inviting resort atmosphere. Despite some critiques regarding course repetition and pace of play, many find satisfaction in the course’s quiet charm and conditioning, especially when Vermont’s seasons lend a vibrant backdrop. Whether visiting as part of a resort stay or for a dedicated round, The Golf Club at The Equinox offers a solid challenge accentuated by natural surroundings and a pace that rewards focus and patience.

Course Highlights

Signature features include nuanced green complexes with tiers and ridges that test putting skills, noticeable elevation shifts that require varied shot selection, and natural mountain vistas that shape both the aesthetic and challenge of the course. The absence of a driving range focuses play toward course performance while the historic clubhouse adds a touch of old-world charm.

Do NOT plan an event here. We called 4 months ahead saying we needed 3 tee times for 3 groups of 4 for a tournament we were playing. We also went to the other top course in VT where we had no issues. This was by far the worst experience I have had golfing this year. I am a 10 handicap, so I am not a beginner and understand about keeping pace of play. It started out nice with the people in the club house being very welcoming. But then strange things start happening. They put a pair behind us. The pair complains. The ranger comes to us and tells us to speed up, but we are waiting on every hole on the group in front of us. As a Ranger, when someone complains about pace, you don't just yell at the group in front of them. You drive up to see where there is a gap. And kindly ask THAT GROUP to pick up pace. The bunkers were not well kept. The course layout had maybe 5 holes with character but the rest were mundane layouts. Last but not least, they have a sign on the turn, "if you stop for food we cannot guarantee you can continue playing." I have played all across the world. I have never seen something so short sighted. You are talking people out of buying food at your place, while you are making them feel uncomfortable. The whole experience had very weird vibes. Skip this place.

The course was in good shape but I dont think its worth anywhere near what they charge. 160 for a round with a cart. Carts have no GPS there is no driving range to warm up the club house was out dated and had one old bathroom plus the food was very expensive and the course its self left something to be desired. The condition was good but the course it self was quite borning. I think 12 out of 18 holes were 350-370 yard par 4s with an elevated tee box. Seemed to be a copy and paste. At the end of the day I've played courses much nicer for literally half the price. Save your money and play else where.

Really fun course w incredible views. The greens are challenging, relatively small, w tiers and ridges on most holes. Played solo and came up on some guys getting in 9 before Thursday evening summer league; they asked me to join and couldn’t have been nicer (thanks Pete!).
