Country Club of Vermont

Waterbury Center, Vermont, USAGreen Mountains Region

The Country Club of Vermont presents an 18-hole mountain course that combines natural elevation changes with challenging greens and scenic views of Camel’s Hump. Designed for players who enjoy strategic golf amid the changing seasons of the Green Mountains, this private club balances rugged terrain with refined playability.

Course Overview

Set amid the rolling contours of the Green Mountains, the Country Club of Vermont offers an 18-hole championship layout that demands focus and rewards precision. This private mountain-style course challenges golfers with its minimal flat lies; most shots require thoughtful stance and balance as the terrain rises and falls with natural flow. The course’s elevated fairways frame sweeping views of iconic peaks like Camel’s Hump, creating a backdrop that shifts with each season—from vibrant autumn hues to lush summer greens.

The layout encourages strategic shot-making over raw power. Bunkers are thoughtfully placed to protect well-guarded greens, and the often swift putting surfaces test even the most adept short game. Wind adds another layer of complexity, especially on the higher ridges, pushing players to adjust trajectory and club selection. This setting and design combine to reward golfers who approach each hole with patience and calculation, while remaining accessible enough for committed amateurs seeking to sharpen their skills.

The clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub with attentive staff and a pro shop that offers expert service. Amenities cater to members and their guests with comfortable locker rooms and dining options that overlook the course, inviting players to unwind after a round. Walking the course is encouraged though the elevation changes make sturdy footwear advisable. Golf carts can be requested but many enjoy the physical and visual connection that walking here fosters.

With its emphasis on natural terrain and challenging conditions, the Country Club of Vermont is a destination for those who appreciate a test that reflects the character of the Green Mountain landscape. Players find themselves immersed not only in the sport, but in the rhythms of the outdoors, from the crisp mountain air to the sounds of forest wildlife accompanying their progress. Whether visiting during brisk fall days or warm summer afternoons, the course offers a memorable experience built on classic design virtues and mountain golf character.

The golf course could not be in a more beautiful setting and was in excellent shape. The only flat lies you will find, however, are the tee boxes so be prepared for a challenge. Andrew at the pro-shop could not have been nicer or more helpful. Will definitely be back!!

Great course layout and views of Camel’s Hump. Played during foliage season and the colors were incredible.

Fantastic course! One of the best in New England. My only issue was when I had a meal there the head chef was an absolutely jerk. I just wanted to compliment him and it was like I was wasting his time. Completely rude and should be fired. Never going back there because of his rudeness.

CCVT is a spectacular golf course and club. It's in excellent condition, with very fast greens - maybe almost too fast for the available pin positions. In a gorgeous mountain setting, it's a real challenge when windy.
