Burnaby Mountain Golf Course & Driving Range

Burnaby, British Columbia, CanadaGreater Vancouver

Burnaby Mountain Golf Course & Driving Range presents an approachable yet tactical 18-hole public course set on rolling hills with mixed parkland and mountain characteristics. Offering comprehensive practice facilities and a modern GPS app, it suits golfers seeking a dynamic test of strategy and precision.

Course Overview

Burnaby Mountain Golf Course & Driving Range offers an engaging 18-hole public course set amidst the distinctive terrain of Burnaby, British Columbia. This course challenges golfers with its rolling hills, strategically positioned trees, and subtle elevation changes that affect shot selection. While sand traps are fewer in number, the course demands accuracy as fairways narrow and doglegs require thoughtful navigation. The mixture of blind shots and varied hole layouts keeps the round interesting, particularly for those who enjoy a course where course management is as important as power.

The natural slopes and surrounding greenery create a lively backdrop for play, combining the elements of a parkland-style course with a hint of mountain influence. Players can expect a fair yet testing layout that rewards precision off the tee, while the gentle undulations test putting skills on carefully maintained greens. The course setup suits a broad spectrum of players, from mid to low handicappers seeking a tactical challenge, to more casual players aiming for steady improvement.

Alongside the course, the driving range provides expansive practice facilities, including a two-tiered tee area with new grass-like mats on the lower level and older mats above. The range is well lit for evening practice, extending opportunities beyond daylight hours. Adjacent practice areas include a chipping zone with a bunker green and a separate putting green, although the latter is somewhat removed from the others. These facilities combine to support a comprehensive pre-round warmup or focused practice session.

Amenities include a fully stocked golf shop and a restaurant where players can relax after their round and enjoy views of the surrounding landscape. The club has embraced technology through its dedicated Burnaby Golf app, offering GPS distances to the flag and easy tee time booking. Walkers are welcome, though the hilly terrain suggests wearing supportive shoes and preparing for some elevation changes.

Overall, Burnaby Mountain balances accessibility and challenge, inviting players to test their strategic game in a setting that feels fresh and engaging. Its accessibility and well-appointed practice areas make it a favored destination for both locals and visitors exploring golf in the Vancouver area.

Now that I've moved to North Burnaby, I've had to find the closest golf driving range to me. It happens to be Burnaby Mountain. This is a public course golf course and driving range. There's a big parking lot and it's quite a walk to the clubhouse to buy the ticket for the driving range. So, use a light bag and don't bring all your equipment but your clubs. This place gets very busy. You'll be lucky if you get a stall right away. Otherwise, it's a waiting game. There are two tiers, bottom and top. The bottom has new grass like mats, whereas the top still has the old worn ones. Looking at the summer hours, this place stays open really late. Nice place to practice your hitting. As for the golf course, it's a beautiful course and well maintained. Love this course. It's challenging with the up and down hills and blind shots and doglegs. Not as many sand traps to contend with, but lots of trees lining the fairway. This is a very busy course because of the price. Before, you could book a tee time 3 days in advance, but now they've changed the system. You can book 1 month in advance but for an extra fee per person. One other great feature is the Burnaby Golf app for your cell phone. Book your tee time with it, plus use it as a GPS playing the course. It gives the actual yardage to the flag. I was using it, and another person in our group was using a range finder. The app was as accurate or better than the range finder. You can use the app for the other Burnaby course, Riverway. Make sure to charge your phone up full and turn off other apps that are running so you don't run out of power.

Beautiful golf course but the experience took a turn for the worse after our run-in with the marshall. This guy looks like "ICE border czar" Tom Homan with the personality of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman of "Full Metal Jacket" fame. There are better ways to ask people to pick up the pace. Surely the City of Burnaby can have this man's talents relocated so as to minimize his interaction with the public.

This review is for the practice area and range. It could be 5 star so easily. New range mats are nice. It’s well lit and the balls are decent. The chipping area is a bit worn out but it’s nice they have a bunker green to mess with. The putting green is in an odd location away from this area. It’s definitely nice to have these options at the course pregame or dedicated practice.

This beautiful golf course is located in Burnaby and has everything you need for your golf obsession. Driving range, restaurant, golf shop, and friendly helpful staff. Although I wouldn’t recommend the chicken avocado grilled cheese, as it was quite plain. I would recommend taking in the beautiful scenery while sipping some wine after walking this amazing 18 hole course. It’s FORE sure our go to golf course.

Nice golf course and affordable. The only negative is the ball marks on greens, probably because they really push the players. Marshall’s can be nasty.

I've been coming here for 10 years, mostly at the range, which I loved. However, this year they decided that they needed to persue a money grab to "upgrade" and make the facility worse. For 10 years I've come in to get 3 buckets and often would use some of them another time. This year, they decided to make the code only last 24 hours. Something that was never told to me, is not posted ANYWHERE on the grounds, or online. When I went to discuss it I was simply told "they supposed to ask if you're using it the same day and if you want it loaded onto a card." Needless to say, I was never asked this and they didn't seem to care that I was never informed. If this is new practice than all buckets should just be loaded onto a card instead, but instead they still give the code. I guess hoping to get the money from unused driving range credit. Finally, the "upgrades" to the range, if they can be called that, are horrible! Upstairs it mostly just a long line of the range mats and walls, no paint as they previously had and now a new large hard plastic strip where the tees are, good way to scrape up your driver and not allow for a proper address of the ball. I won't be back, which is probably a blessing to them, so I no longer have to rudely interrupt the private conversations that the shop staff are having with each other, which don't actually end when a client comes in to purchase or pay fees.

This is a municipal golf course in Burnaby British Columbia. It’s a full length course halfway up the side of elevation in Burnaby, and therefore has some good elevation changes within the course itself. It’s challenging as a full length, of course in its own right with elevated greens and tea boxes, as well as a good series of hazards and trees scattered road. There’s a very large driving range and adequate chipping and putting area for practice as well. The pro shop is well stocked and there is a very nicely appointed restaurant just on the grounds. Overall, a very well kept municipal golf course difficult you get teatime on in usual morning or early afternoon hours, but Definitely worth playing and adding to the rotation.
