Northlands Golf Course

North Vancouver, British Columbia, CanadaGreater Vancouver Area

Northlands Golf Course in North Vancouver offers a challenging yet accessible 18-hole public layout characterized by hilly terrain and majestic trees. Ideal for players seeking strategic golf paired with scenic views and a relaxed clubhouse experience.

Course Overview

Northlands Golf Course, situated in the heart of North Vancouver, offers an 18-hole layout that skillfully balances challenge and accessibility. This public course unfolds over varied terrain, where rolling hills and towering old-growth trees shape a landscape both inviting and demanding. The course’s design takes full advantage of its natural surroundings, producing a play experience that tests shot-making skills, especially on the uphill and downhill approaches that pepper many holes. Elevation changes create subtle optical illusions that require precise club selection and a steady tempo.

As you navigate the fairways, expansive views of Vancouver and the nearby mountains provide a refreshing backdrop, adding layers of natural beauty without distracting from the game. The greens are well-maintained, responding true under all conditions and maintained at a speed that rewards thoughtful putting. Bunkers appear strategically placed, offering both visual cues and actual hazards that compel careful positioning.

Visitors often note the course’s contour and the significant walking challenge it presents, with steep climbs scattered throughout the round. For this reason, a golf cart is advisable, particularly for players who want to maintain pace and energy over the full 18 holes. The course team supports this by offering reliable cart rentals and user-friendly GPS-enabled carts that help with distance judgment on tricky elevation changes.

The clubhouse features a recently renovated restaurant that welcomes golfers after their rounds for a meal in a relaxed environment, helping to round out the day with a focus on local flavors and casual comfort. Staff are known for professionalism and attention to detail, making the entire venue approachable and visitor-friendly. While there is no driving range onsite, the quality of the course conditions and the natural challenges create a rewarding, authentic golfing experience.

Northlands caters to a broad range of players—from ambitious mid-handicaps to low handicappers looking for strategic tests. The course’s terrain and layout encourage thoughtful play while the surrounding scenery affirms why this is a valued municipal asset. Those planning a visit should wear sturdy footwear and prepare for an energetic day outdoors, where golf blends with the brisk West Coast air and woodland setting.

Course Highlights

The course stands out for its hilly topography and mature forest setting, demanding precise distance control on uneven lies and elevated greens. Several holes reward strategic placement over power, with bunkers guarding key approach areas. The newly updated clubhouse restaurant offers a comfortable place to relax post-round. While there is no driving range, GPS carts help navigate the complex lay of the land.

My local course - it’s challenging but extremely good public course. Don’t carry, it’s a hilly walk on many holes. Rain or shine it’s always in great condition. Recently renovated restaurant is amazing! My only knock is a lack of driving range (if they added some simulators that would be awesome).

Challenging course with beautiful terrain. The course was kept in amazing condition! The facilities were top notch, the course was close to Vancouver and the price was extremely reasonable considering the quality. Pro tip - get a golf cart. Lots of hills and difficult distance measurements for uphill and downhill greens. The course screen on the cart was very helpful.

Course was great, playing nice. No restaurant or any sort of food / drink was dissapointing. Worst part was the power hungry marshal who came up to us on 3 seperate occasions to pick up the pace. Nobody for 2 holes behind us and we were playing at a good pace yet he kept going on, even approached us while we were putting on the green. First time he told us we were “1 minute behind pace” after 5 holes, really? Put a dampener on a fun day.

I love this course, beautiful old trees, fresh air, nice greens. It's a fun course, I strongly suggest a power cart due to the hilly nature. Enjoy your round 🏌‍♀️🏌‍♀️
