Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club

North Plains, Oregon, USAGreater Portland

Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club features two renowned 18-hole courses that showcase Oregon’s lush parkland terrain. From the approachable fairways of Ghost Creek to the precision-demanding Witch Hollow layout, this venue offers players a balanced golf experience amid the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty.

Course Overview

Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club offers golfers two distinct 18-hole courses stretching across the rolling landscape north of Portland, Oregon. The public side, known simply as Ghost Creek, presents a classic parkland experience with open fairways framed by native Pacific Northwest vegetation, gentle elevation changes, and strategic bunkering that requires thoughtful shot placement without overwhelming less experienced players. Ghost Creek balances challenge and accessibility, making it suitable for a wide range of skill levels eager to enjoy a well-maintained, testable layout.

The club’s private Witch Hollow course carries a reputation for demanding precision and tactile control. Carved through hills and mature forests, Witch Hollow features tighter landing areas and smaller greens, creating an emphasis on shot accuracy and course management. Both courses showcase the region’s characteristic lushness, with dark firs and the occasional glimpse of Oregon’s granite outcroppings, grounding each round in a distinctly Pacific Northwest atmosphere.

Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club is celebrated for maintaining excellent playing conditions year-round. Fairways are generally in solid shape, with greens that reward careful touch, although certain drainage areas can present standing water during heavy rains. Cart rentals serve the Ghost Creek course well, though players who prefer a walk will find thoughtfully placed resting areas along the route. The club encourages golfers to adjust their play speed to match course flow, which helps preserve an unhurried ambiance.

Amenities include a modern clubhouse with dining facilities and a pro shop stocked with quality equipment and apparel. The staff is known for a welcoming yet professional approach, enhancing the overall visitor experience. The club’s history is rich with tournament play, having hosted significant amateur and professional events that add to its prestige.

For those seeking a memorable Pacific Northwest golfing outing, Pumpkin Ridge offers variety, scenic beauty, and courses that reward both aggressive play and strategic discretion. Whether teeing off on Ghost Creek or facing Witch Hollow’s more demanding layout, golfers will find a venue that challenges the game while inviting enjoyment in equal measure.

Course Highlights

Pumpkin Ridge is distinguished by its dual-course setup: Ghost Creek offers wide fairways and accessible shot values with contouring bunkers, while Witch Hollow demands shot-making accuracy through tighter fairways and smaller greens bordered by native vegetation. Both courses reflect Pacific Northwest flora and terrain, providing scenic diversity and a tangible connection to their environment. The venue’s legacy includes hosting top amateur events, adding depth to its competitive allure.

Wow. Hard to believe the last time I was here it was 1997. Immediately following the epic battle when Tiger won his 6th straight U.S. Amateur tournament (three Junior, then three unrestricted). I believe he is the all-time major championship winner with 21 not Jack - with all respect to Jack. This is hallowed ground for golf nuts. The courses are amazing. One private. One public. Call a friend who can get you out on Witch Hollow. This place is a golfer's paradise. It’s a golf club not a country club if you’re following me… Anyone visiting the Portland area it’s a must play - and when you’re done take the long track down to Bandon after. Another gem in the state of Oregon. Both Pumkin tracks have received "best of" awards for public and private courses and only 20 minutes from downtown Portland.

Absolutely beautiful and well maintained golf course. And this is the public side, so you just know the private course has to be amazing. The course is challenging, but open enough to be forgiving. Cart girl made a fantastic Transfusion. Loved the experience.

What a fun place to play a round! Challenging course with quick greens and beautiful aesthetics. A few minor hiccups. Playing a shotgun scramble and our cart died about 500 yards from the clubhouse and 500 yards from our hole. It took the team about 20 minutes to bring a replacement which created confusion. Plus, the website indicates rental clubs are $50 but was charged $75. Pretty easy website fix. Other than those two minor issues it was wonderful.

Overpriced. I've never paid two hundred for a round and seen literally zero cart service in the middle of summer on a noon round.

Great place to play golf with friendly staff and excellent course design. My only criticism is the greens were a bit rough around the edges for the price.

4 star review due to price. Course was in decent condition, fairways were nice and greens were well kept. Definitely some standing water in areas. There was no Marshall and no pace of play. Also for $146 with cart, I expect a premium experience. Feels like they just take your money and whatever goes. Front 9 is way more challenging than back.

For the premium price tag the public deserves better groundskeeping practices. Poa-spotted greens, un-raked bunkers on a weekend and barely a yardage to be found. What are we paying for? History? Much better value at The Reserve or Langdon.
