Presidents Golf Course

Quincy, Massachusetts, USAGreater Boston Area

Presidents Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole course near Boston that pairs urban views with rolling terrain and strategic shot-making. Known for its precision-demanding holes and dynamic elevation changes, it invites players to engage fully with a course where finesse matters more than length.

Course Overview

Presidents Golf Course in Quincy, Massachusetts, presents a compact but thoughtfully varied 18-hole layout that rewards precision and strategic play. Its setting just south of Boston offers sweeping views of the city skyline between holes, creating a visual balance of urban backdrop and natural contours. This course delivers a blend of challenge and accessibility, captivating golfers of different skill levels with its mix of tight fairways, well-maintained greens, and notable elevation changes.

Originally designed with a focus on shot-making rather than sheer length, Presidents Golf Course measures a total yardage that demands accuracy off the tee and creativity in shot selection. The course’s standout holes provide memorable moments, especially the dramatic 14th and 15th. The 14th requires careful distance control and placement due to hazards and tricky bounces beyond the green, while the dogleg right 15th challenges players to thread an approach over water, often influenced by wind conditions that test every aspect of one’s game.

Golfers will find the course’s rolling terrain to be a physical element to consider, making walking a distinct experience. While the course encourages walking for a full sensory connection with the landscape, riding carts are recommended for those who wish to maintain energy and focus, particularly during a round’s closing stretch. The layout combines elements both subtle and striking, from hidden blind shots to expanses of finely groomed turf that emphasize thoughtful decision-making at every turn.

Facilities at Presidents Golf Course cater professionally to visitors, with a friendly pro shop and clubhouse accommodating groups and events alike. Despite its proximity to an active flight path, the steady overhead planes add an unexpected rhythm without overpowering the tranquility on the greens.

Players preparing to visit should arrive ready for a course that offers more than distance alone. Precision, patience, and an appetite for carefully planned strategy define the experience here. Whether seeking a weekday round or a weekend retreat, Presidents Golf Course offers a genuine test in a uniquely accessible metropolitan setting.

Course Highlights

The course stands out for its challenging holes 14 and 15 - the 14th demands precise distance control with tricky hazard placements; the 15th is a dogleg right beside water, heavily affected by wind. The layout features a mix of blind shots and rolling hills that test a golfer’s skill and course management.

Great view of the city, decently easy to get on. Weekend pace (Sat at 12:40pm for 18 walking - 4:15) not bad at all but should be faster for a short albeit challenging course. 3rd is a mess to find if you're new and 15th, a menace regardless of familiarity. All in all, an okay course (12th was very kind to me) but there are others that can be played for about the same price ($55 walking) or less in the area with arguably better conditions (across the board - tee box, fairways, greens), even on the front 9. William Devine, George Wright, Newton Comm, Brookline / Putterham, etc.

Terrible terrible. Two of my friends and I went to go play and brought our little puppy. The person at the golf shop Said that we could bring the puppy as long as he stayed in a cart. When we showed up around 2:30 they told us after four we could be put on the schedule to play but as soon as 4 o’clock came around, we had asked the lady if we were ready to play and she said that they had already put away the cart. And we would have to walk. It was terrible customer service and we wasted half the day trying to make this plan.never going back.

Good course with some blind shots and well care green. The only issue was they didn’t have a starter so some people jumped in front of us on 14.

This beautiful golf course is quite challenging as many different levels of holes and layouts are mixed nicely in a relatively short course. But it teaches you that the distance is something but not everything. It is not easy at all either to play and score. #14 and #15 are the highlights. At 14, if you hit too far or too right, you will lose your ball. You also hit the green at once, otherwise your ball can go anywhere after bouncing rocks. At 15, you have a beautiful right-side dog leg hole, beyond a pond alongside the fairway. When you have tail wind, you must try long drive and on-green with second shot. However, in case of strong head wind, you need three consecutive accurate shots to find green as its fairway is narrow. Airplanes flying over every minute may annoy you, but not much. It is one of the few courses that I wanted to come back again. I walked but like to recommend ride to focus on your play. It is quite hilly.
