Furnace Brook Golf Club

Quincy, Massachusetts, USAGreater Boston Area

Furnace Brook Golf Club presents a well-maintained 9-hole semi-private course characterized by rolling hills and strategic shot opportunities. Its modern clubhouse and scenic views make it a notable golfing destination just outside Boston.

Course Overview

Furnace Brook Golf Club offers a compact but engaging 9-hole layout set within the rolling terrain of Quincy, Massachusetts. This semi-private course blends natural elevation changes with a thoughtfully maintained landscape, challenging golfers with subtle ups and downs that demand precise shot-making and course management. While modest in size, the course’s design encourages players to think carefully about each shot, especially where elevated greens and well-placed bunkers require strategic approaches rather than brute strength.

Surrounding the course, the New England scenery unfolds through mature trees and glimpses of nearby water, lending visual interest without overwhelming the playing experience. The well-kept fairways and fast, smooth greens reflect the club’s commitment to quality maintenance, making Furnace Brook feel polished and inviting despite its smaller footprint.

The recently opened Loft at Furnace Brook adds a fresh dimension to the club’s amenities. Perched to overlook expansive views of Quincy and coastal waters, the clubhouse is a modern welcome point offering a tasteful menu and comfortable space to relax post-round. This facility complements the traditional charm of the course, blending accessibility with refined service suited to both casual outings and more serious practice sessions.

Furnace Brook appeals to golfers across skill levels but leans slightly toward those seeking a test in shot placement over power. The terrain’s hills can be physically demanding for walkers, making golf cart rental a practical recommendation, especially for players with any mobility considerations. Beginners will find rewarding challenges, while experienced players can hone accuracy and tempo here.

Positioned just off 20 Reservoir Rd, the club’s setting offers a calm retreat from city life while remaining close enough for convenient access. Friendly staff emphasize a welcoming atmosphere, and although public tee times are limited, the course remains a hidden gem for locals and members alike.

For anyone craving a concise but thoughtfully challenging round accompanied by freshly upgraded amenities and classic New England charm, Furnace Brook Golf Club stands ready to deliver an experience that blends tradition with modern comfort.

Small course, but beautifully maintained. Semi-private, so limited times for the public to play. They were maintaining the greens while we played, but that didn’t bother us. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

This place is great. The staff are very friendly. The course is well maintained. They're currently building a new club house. If you're a beginner looking for a challenge, this is a fun course. I recommend renting a cart if you have bad knees/cardio as it is very hilly. Otherwise, a great hike for the walking golfer.
