Black Swan Country Club

Georgetown, Massachusetts, USAGreater Boston Area

Black Swan Country Club delivers an engaging 18-hole parkland course that balances approachable play with strategic challenges. With mature tree-lined fairways, subtle elevation changes, and consistently true greens, it appeals to a broad range of golfers seeking quality golf near Boston.

Course Overview

Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown, Massachusetts offers a challenging yet accessible public golfing experience just north of Boston. This 18-hole championship course is designed primarily as a parkland layout, weaving through mature tree lines that shape each hole with natural corridors and strategic framing. Players will find the fairways generally generous, but well-placed bunkers and undulating greens demand thoughtful approach shots and solid short game skills. The course stretches to approximately 6,800 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, making it a test suited for intermediate players while still rewarding low-handicap golfers for precise shotmaking.

The setting balances open expanses with sections of wooded character, offering a quieter golf experience away from suburban bustle. Elevated tee boxes provide long sightlines, with certain holes revealing subtle elevation changes that can influence club choice and ball flight. While not a links or mountain course, Black Swan uses its natural elevation and soft contours to add variety and tactical interest. The greens consistently roll true, presenting a firm surface that tests putting accuracy without overwhelming less experienced players.

Black Swan’s pace of play is generally steady, aided by a layout that anticipates golfers’ rhythm and flow. Walking the course is encouraged for those who enjoy a deeper connection to the terrain; the property offers well-maintained cart paths and a terrain that poses no excessive elevation challenges. Practically, players should prepare for varied conditions on fairways and tee boxes, with some maintenance updates still underway, especially around the tees.

The clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub featuring a pro shop and dining facilities that create a relaxed atmosphere before and after rounds. As a public course with a strong community feel, Black Swan welcomes golfers from all walks of life and is particularly popular among those seeking a competitive yet approachable day on the links. Whether aiming to sharpen competitive edge or enjoy an afternoon round, players find Black Swan a solid value and a well-crafted test of skill with enough character to keep every round engaging.

Course Highlights

Black Swan combines a classic parkland style with strategic bunkering and subtle elevation shifts. The course’s variety of hole designs includes several risk-reward opportunities that challenge shot placement from tee to green. Greens are praised for consistent speed and contouring, enhancing the short game experience. The course integrates natural wooded borders, creating intimate golf settings that contrast with the more open front nine. The friendly and attentive staff, coupled with the well-equipped clubhouse, further enrich the experience for visitors.

We had our wedding there October 2024 the staff were amazing, food was awesome, the Essex Ballroom room was gorgeous the staff decorated it perfectly for our wedding and our outdoor ceremony was everything we could imagined with great weather. They sure do great for weddings. I highly recommended black swan for weddings they are very affordable and accommodating.

Our wedding venue was absolutely stunning, they made our vision come to life, set up our decor exactly how we wanted, and the coordinator Tiffany was phenomenal. She was highly responsive to all of our emails and questions from the moment we booked the venue until the day of the event. Everything went off without a hitch. Not to mention that the venue is incredibly beautiful both inside the ballroom and outside on the grounds. I really felt like planning our wedding at Black Swan was the most painless process and it's because of their expertise, professionalism, and experience.

They raised their prices to $95 for 18 with a cart. That’s one way to lose business. Stop kidding yourself… nice greens but that’s an absurd price for this course. Nice knowing ya!

Course was nice and well kept. A bit pricey but not terrible. The greens are very nice. There is a grumpy ranger here who was very argumentative with us and not polite at all. I drove away from him thinking he was being childish and a bit rude. It felt like he just wanted to argue with us, never had an issue with a ranger but this guy was just not nice

Great experience on a Saturday morning/afternoon at Black Swan. Jason the Manager of Golf Operations / Head Golf Professional came out at greeted us on the course at one point, thanked us for coming out and was extremely friendly! Interesting layout that often has much risk/reward, I'd say better than average pace of play on the day and greens rolled well. Overall, I personally believe this is one of the better public courses still under $100 in the area.

Decent shape, but should be a lot better considering it’s a pretty Young Course. A lot of the holes have little to no character, all mimic each other. Overall just OK. Update: The 2025 price increases make this place absolutely not worth the money. Go to a golf course like Scottish Highlands that actually respects people’s income and love for the sport.

We hosted our HS sports team banquet here - packages were very reasonable, planning with staff super easy, and the event and food were wonderful.

I got to play the golf course today, first one off the tee and played it solo. It is a pretty nice course, there is a nice mix of holes, and the greens were good. I would recommend playing here, price was worth it for what I got. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because of the tee boxes. I played Sunday morning and the tee boxes were like hitting out of the rough. Why not just cut the grass down?
