Tidewater Golf Club

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USAGrand Strand

Tidewater Golf Club presents a coastal Carolina golf experience where marshland views and strategic design meet. This approachable yet challenging 18-hole public resort course offers well-maintained conditions and noteworthy amenities, making it a must-play for visitors to North Myrtle Beach.

Course Overview

Tidewater Golf Club, located on the scenic shores of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, offers an engaging 18-hole experience set against the shifting landscape of marshes and inter-coastal waterways. This public resort course weaves through lowcountry terrain, balancing the natural beauty of coastal Carolina with a thoughtful layout that challenges golfers while inviting players of multiple skill levels to engage confidently. Stretching to just under 7,000 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, Tidewater delivers a strategic test through fairways bordered by marsh grasses, tidal creeks, and clusters of towering pines.

What distinguishes Tidewater is its interplay with water and wind. Several holes flirt with the salt marsh edges, requiring precision off the tee and careful navigation around well-placed bunkers and natural waste areas. The course’s routing maximizes these views, creating moments where the gentle breeze from the nearby Atlantic influences club selection and shot shape. Players will find the greens to range from moderately fast to firm and undulating, rewarding thoughtful approach shots. While low handicappers will appreciate the risk-reward options, shore golfers and resort visitors will find multiple forgiving tees and generous fairways that encourage solid ball striking.

Tidewater also offers amenities that enhance the overall visit. The on-site clubhouse includes Joey’s Restaurant, where players can unwind with hearty coastal fare in a relaxed setting, a perfect spot after a round to savor local flavors. The staff’s attentive service shines through, particularly on warm days when hydration and comfort are priorities.

Although the course can stretch rounds longer during busy periods, its layout and scenic design provide a memorable golf journey that captures the spirit of coastal golf. Whether you are visiting North Myrtle Beach or a local looking for a well-kept challenge, Tidewater Golf Club delivers a rewarding blend of playability, striking views, and Southern hospitality.

Course Highlights

Tidewater’s routing highlights marsh- and water-adjacent holes that test both accuracy and course management. Signature views unfold on holes bordering tidal creeks, where wind conditions influence shot strategy. Bunkers and native waste areas frame many fairways, offering a distinct coastal challenge. Joey's Restaurant within the clubhouse serves as a welcome retreat after the round, enhancing the overall golf experience at this resort-style venue.

Definitely recommend trying the Restaurant inside the club. Joey's has homemade food for a reasonable price! The service is outstanding! Many have been there for years! I enjoyed the chili and a chili cheese dog. I love homemade red mashed potatoes so I ordered them on the side instead of fries. Comfort food :) They offer take out to if you're in a hurry. He also has different weekly specials offered for those who are local or play the course often. Beautiful course and a restaurant that you can enjoy and actually not feel rushed! The staff is exceptional for "these days" and food quality. We will be back to try dinner specials.

We have played Tidewater for years whenever we vacation in Myrtle Beach. My son & husband played 3 & 1/2 weeks ago, I didn't because my daughter-in-law does not play. My husband and son were paired with 2 young brothers, 20 yrs. old and late teen, who had never played golf, they were wearing running shoes, and rented clubs. We think when making tee times you should ask if the golfer has a handicap or if they are experienced golfers? And pair golfers accordingly, not golfers with inexperienced players! Tidewater green's fee's are not cheap! We understand resort/vacation play, families are together and decide to play their yearly round! But, is it fair to experienced golfers? NO! I am writing this review because I have experienced this same issue when my husband & I have played in previous years and because I had to listen to them complain the whole time we were in Myrtle about the only golf round they played. The reason I gave 3 stars is because we like the course and it is beautiful but...... Do better!

Played Tidewater on June 26th after many 90+ degree days and the course was in great shape from tee to green. There are several postcard holes along the inter-coastal/marshland that offer great views. Service at the bag drop, proshop and on the course were all A+. A nice touch on a hot day was that in addition to a cart person going around there was another worker going around with ice and cold water to fill up your personal container. The only negative was the length of the round at 5 hours on a weekday morning. The root cause of this is doing split tees through the morning. After our front 9 we had to wait 25 minutes to tee off 10, and then wait on every shot after. A 5 hour round on a weekday morning is ridiculous! I was told there were no times after 9:45am booked. Book times through early afternoon starting on one only, at least on weekdays. PLEASE Appreciate the feedback from the course. I would question a target of 4 hours 45 minutes for a round. I’ve never played a course with a targeted round that long. Most target 4 hours to 4 hours 15 minutes. A few private clubs target less than 4 hours.

I have played Tidewater for the past 30 years as it’s one of my favorite courses on the strand. But my round this past week was disappointing. The condition of the course was the worst I’ve ever seen. I know there has been a drought, but I played many other courses in the area that are kept pristine. I’m not sure what happened here. The greens are rock solid and the areas around the green are full of weeds on many holes. I still like the course and the staff, but I’m hoping the conditions will improve. Especially at the price that’s being charged.

This is one of the top courses. Great layout and friendly staff make it a pleasure to play. The conditions were great, greens ran smooth and fairways were well groomed and the sand traps were in great shape. The pace of play was well within a resort course time frame of 41/2 hours and little wait. I live in area and will continue to play.
