Myrtle Beach National Golf Course

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USAGrand Strand

Offering a versatile 27-hole layout just minutes from the Myrtle Beach hub, Myrtle Beach National blends parkland design with coastal elements to create a course appealing to golfers of all levels. Its combination of strategic bunkering, well-maintained greens, and inviting clubhouse amenities make it a worthwhile stop on any Grand Strand golf itinerary.

Course Overview

Myrtle Beach National Golf Course presents a compelling blend of challenge and accessibility across its 27 holes, divided into three distinctly designed nine-hole courses: West, North, and South. Located just minutes from the bustling heart of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this semi-private facility offers a versatile golfing experience suitable for a wide range of skill levels. The layout combines traditional parkland characteristics with subtle coastal influences, framed by gently rolling terrain and pockets of native vegetation that shape strategic shot-making opportunities.

The West Course, often praised for its thoughtful design, features smooth, fast greens guarded by bunkers that demand precision off the tee and in approach shots. The North Course, which has seen recent renovations, tests players with deeper bunkers and elevated greens, increasing the emphasis on course management. The South Course offers a more forgiving round, ideal for those seeking to hone their skills or enjoy a relaxed outing. Together, these courses maintain conditioning standards that generally hold up well throughout the year, although seasonal maintenance can temporarily affect some fairway and bunker areas.

Myrtle Beach National’s playability reaches across the board, making it a solid option for beginners aiming to develop consistency as well as low handicappers looking for a strategic test. The undulating fairways and firm greens encourage thoughtful club selection and shot execution without veering into excessive difficulty. Players will appreciate the well-kept practice facility, which includes a driving range and putting green to warm up before a round.

The clubhouse serves as a comfortable gathering place, offering casual dining with views of the course, ideal for regrouping after play. Throughout the course, beverage cart service enhances the pacing and overall comfort, especially on warmer days. Walking is encouraged and generally manageable, thanks to the modest elevation changes and well-maintained paths.

For golfers planning a visit, prepare for potential firmness in bunkers and some variability in turf conditions during renovation periods. Early morning tee times can provide calmer winds and softer greens, enhancing scoring opportunities. Myrtle Beach National delivers an engaging, approachable golf experience framed by the natural charms of coastal South Carolina.

Course Highlights

Course has the capacity to be a 4-5 star close. Layout is nice. Course does not seem to be maintained though. Fairways are not good at all. All the ponds on the front 9 have literally 6 inches of water in them. Bunkers were basically concrete. A lot of bare patches on the greens. Disappointing especially considering the green fee.

Played South Creek at MBN today. This is a great value for the $$ paid. Greens were in great shape and rolled well. Fairways and bunkers did not drain well with all the rain.

Second time playing Kings North, it’s definitely a challenging course. The course is coming along nicely since the renovation, just be prepared for deep bunkers should your ball go off-line. Conditions were fairly good, just needs more time for some of the new sod to settle. Practice facility and clubhouse food was 10/10, definitely worth a stop for some food.

Played a morning 18 on the West course and then Kings North in the afternoon. All the staff I came across were very friendly and helpful. Pace of play was very good both rounds. Morning only took 2 1/2 hours for 3 of us. Had burger and fries from restaurant. Both were very good. West has some irrigation construction going on. Was some spots in fairways that might’ve been a little thin on grass but overall courses were in really good shape. First time I’ve played in area in February so I don’t know what typical is this time of year. Had a great time!

From start to finish, just a great golf experience! Course was in pretty good shape considering a full day of rain prior to our round, and it being mid-January. Fairways, tee boxes and greens were in beautiful condition considering the time of year. Staff was extremely courteous and professional, and there was even beverage cart service which was a nice surprise given the time of year. Looking forward to going back and playing the other courses there! Thanks for a great time!

Myrtle Beach National Golf Course is a great place to play golf. The courses are well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and challenging round of golf. The courses are in great condition. The greens are smooth and fast, and the fairways are well-manicured. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are always willing to answer questions and give advice.
