Course Overview

Kings North Golf Course, located off National Drive in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, stands out as a compelling test for golfers of varying skills while offering a distinctly scenic experience. This 18-hole, championship layout commands attention with its parkland style infused with strategic water hazards and firm, fast greens that demand precision and thoughtful shot-making. Water features are prominent throughout the course, bringing both visual appeal and challenge, often forcing players to weigh risks carefully before choosing their next move.

The design incorporates large bunkers that are firm, stony, and shallow by design, presenting a different kind of hazard that requires a deft touch rather than brute force. These unique sand traps, combined with the undulating terrain, invite players to engage both their creativity and course management skills. The course demands respect, especially from mid to low handicappers who will find several holes that test mental focus as much as physical ability, with the aptly nicknamed "Gambler" hole providing a thrilling moment to push limits or exercise caution.

Despite its challenges, Kings North is accessible to golfers looking to improve, with well-maintained fairways and approachable tee placements that cater to multiple levels. The overall setting balances stretches of mature trees with open vistas, creating a rhythm that both calms and intensifies the round.

Off the course, amenities include a thoughtfully stocked pro shop and a welcoming clubhouse, making for a complete golf day experience. Players will find food and beverage options conveniently available, perfect for recharging between the front and back nine.

Visitors planning to walk should prepare for firm footing across the course’s rolling contours and uneven ground in places; comfortable shoes and moderate fitness levels are recommended. For those seeking a memorable round that challenges the full spectrum of a golfer’s skills amidst striking scenery, Kings North delivers an experience that is both rewarding and engaging.

While some players note the crowded conditions from multiple groups playing simultaneously, the overall quality of the layout and maintenance hold strong, ensuring that Kings North remains a staple for golf in the Myrtle Beach area.

I got to ride along while my husband played a round of golf with two local gentleman. Really enjoyed the grounds - everything was beautiful! Staff was so friendly, nice gift shop, and yummy food selection. We ordered Mozzarella Sticks, Hot Dog, Fries, and some beers at the turn - all were delicious and decently priced. My husband enjoyed the challenging holes on the course and was lucky enough to play with an employee, so he got lots of tips throughout the day.

Scenic course. Well maintained. MANY courses here so there are parallel holes and you will hear driver pings all day due to number of players out there. Greens played firm and fast. Water exists, and will challenge your mind. Bunkers are wild here, they are firm, stoney, and shallow, intentionally. Only exceptional golfers should Gamble on the Gambler, unless you want to test your own game. And mental fortitude. 4.5/5 would play again routinely

For an "upscale" course, this place was beat to death. Tee boxes were tired, fairway overseed thin and greens were like putting on pea gravel with balls bouncing all over the place. They needed rolling to smooth them out. At over $100, not worth the price of admission. Avoid.
