Kings North Golf Course

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USAGrand Strand

Kings North Golf Course offers an 18-hole championship test on the Grand Strand, blending coastal views with strategically placed water hazards and firm, stony bunkers. Its challenging layout and fast greens appeal to skilled players while maintaining playability for mid-handicaps.

Course Overview

Kings North Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, commands attention with its striking blend of natural beauty and design intricacy. This 18-hole, championship-grade layout offers a robust challenge set amid a landscape marked by diverse water hazards and boldly sculpted bunkers that shape every round’s strategy. As part of the larger Myrtle Beach golf destination, Kings North stands out with its firm, fast greens that reward precise shot-making and penalize indiscretion. The course’s routing alternates between seaside marsh views and wooded stretches, creating a dynamic setting that tests all facets of a player’s game.

At just over 7,460 yards from the championship tees, par is set at 72, inviting players to navigate a demanding combination of length and variety. Water comes into play on multiple holes, requiring careful club selection and mental focus. Bunkers at Kings North are intentionally firm and shallow, lined with stones, creating a unique challenge where recovery shots demand finesse rather than power. Not every golfer will dare tackle the aptly named “Gambler” hole without caution, as it stands as a highlight of risk-reward design and mental fortitude.

The course strikes a balance between accessibility and challenge—while the front tees offer an approachable test for mid-handicap players, low handicappers will find ample opportunities to sharpen their skills. Walkers will appreciate the mostly smooth transitions between holes, but those planning to explore on foot should prepare for some stretches where boots with solid traction will help, given the coastal environment.

Facility-wise, Kings North hosts a well-staffed clubhouse with a pro shop and on-site dining that caters to golfers looking to recharge between shots. Friendly and knowledgeable staff add warmth to every visit, increasing its appeal beyond just the fairways. Experience here is marked by the contrast of peaceful natural elements and the occasional echoing driver sound from nearby courses, reminding every player of the vibrant golf community in the Myrtle Beach area.

For golfers planning a trip, Kings North delivers both a scenic escape and a stern examination of shot-making, making it a must-visit for those seeking a comprehensive golf experience on the Grand Strand.

Scenic course. Well maintained. MANY courses here so there are parallel holes and you will hear driver pings all day due to number of players out there. Greens played firm and fast. Water exists, and will challenge your mind. Bunkers are wild here, they are firm, stoney, and shallow, intentionally. Only exceptional golfers should Gamble on the Gambler, unless you want to test your own game. And mental fortitude. 4.5/5 would play again routinely

For an "upscale" course, this place was beat to death. Tee boxes were tired, fairway overseed thin and greens were like putting on pea gravel with balls bouncing all over the place. They needed rolling to smooth them out. At over $100, not worth the price of admission. Avoid.

I got to ride along while my husband played a round of golf with two local gentleman. Really enjoyed the grounds - everything was beautiful! Staff was so friendly, nice gift shop, and yummy food selection. We ordered Mozzarella Sticks, Hot Dog, Fries, and some beers at the turn - all were delicious and decently priced. My husband enjoyed the challenging holes on the course and was lucky enough to play with an employee, so he got lots of tips throughout the day.
