Key West Golf Club

Key West, Florida, USAFlorida Keys

Key West Golf Club offers an 18-hole public layout rich with subtropical charm and approachable design. Featuring palm-lined fairways and greens influenced by coastal winds, this course provides a varied golfing experience for visitors and locals seeking enjoyable challenges in Florida’s southernmost region.

Course Overview

Key West Golf Club presents an engaging 18-hole journey through subtropical landscapes characteristic of Florida’s southernmost point. This public course offers a blend of playability and challenge set against a backdrop of palm-lined fairways and gently rolling terrain. The layout invites golfers of various skill levels to test their game without demanding elite proficiency, making it an appealing stop for visiting travelers and locals alike.

While the course lacks dramatic elevation changes, it compensates with thoughtful routing that balances shorter par-4s and reachable par-5s against tighter approach shots guarded by well-positioned bunkers and water hazards. The greens demand attention with subtle breaks and receptive surfaces that reward precise iron play. Players will find themselves negotiating several holes where the coastal winds influence club selection and strategy, subtly weaving an element of unpredictability into each round.

The course maintains a solid standard of conditioning, with fairways presenting consistent lies and greens offering smooth putting surfaces, creating a fair but stimulating test from tee to green. Although the driving range is modest, the quality of practice balls and facilities supports solid warm-up routines. Rental clubs are available and kept in good condition, supporting visitors who arrive unburdened by equipment.

Amenities include a well-staffed pro shop offering friendly service that adds to the overall welcoming atmosphere. The cart policy encourages shared rides to maintain pace and course stewardship, and walking is permitted but less common due to the Florida heat and course length. Early morning rounds are advisable to avoid midday sun and take advantage of calmer wind conditions.

Key West Golf Club captures the spirit of Florida’s golf experience with an approachable yet enjoyable layout amid scenic surroundings. Whether stopping in on a cruise port day, visiting the Keys, or living locally, golfers can expect a course that blends challenge, charm, and accessibility in a region rich with casual island character.

Course Highlights

The course features several holes shaped by the coastal winds that test shot selection and tempo. Well-positioned bunkers and water hazards add strategic complexity. Rental clubs and quality carts support visitors, while practice facilities, though modest, offer a useful warm-up before play.

We weren’t expecting much because of the bad reviews about the pro shop staff, but we ended up being pleasantly surprised! Everyone in the pro shop was kind and welcoming, nothing like previous reviews had mentioned. The course was in good shape and had a good pace of play. Rental clubs were in great shape, and had a great time!

Worth the 150 bucks. Range isn’t very good but nice balls. Course is really fun. Great layout that will leave you some long approach shots into greens. challenging greens complex. condition was acceptable. Rough 5/10 Fairway 8/10 Greens 7/10 Staff were very welcoming and polite, not sure where the negative feedback is coming from. I’m assuming people did not read the rules and try to put the blame on the staff… There is a 2 cart max per group and you cannot play in twosomes or alone, so expect to not be able to have a rider.

I was excited to take my husband here on July 1, 2025 for his birthday as we were here visiting and this quickly turned into a negative experience so much that we ended our hole at 9. I was expecting the worst from staff based on the reviews (the young guy that got us to our cart was extremely friendly) but it happened to be the people we had to play with at our scheduled tee time. They were absolutely horrible to my husband and I. We introduced ourselves and they acted like they didn’t want to shake our hands. As we begin to play, they were playing ahead which we didn’t mind as they were extremely rude from the beginning. The course ranger came to us first and told us we had to play as a group and we let him know they didn’t want to play with us and wanted to play ahead. He went over to them and told them we had to play as a group. I could clearly see the older gentleman roll his eyes. At this point I was extremely frustrated. The only thing I could see as a reason they didn’t want to play with us was because we happened to black. My suggestion here with situations like this, the customer should be allowed to not have to play with people that are clearly being rude and disrespectful or bring your own group because you could end up with disrespectful people at your scheduled tee time. After spending over $347 to play and not even finishing the course, this was a waste of my time and money. I should have been given half a refund. My husband didn’t even enjoy his time on the green.

Had a great round here at Key West Golf Club. Beautiful course. Lots of fun/challenging holes. Surprised the reviews were so low -- don't trust them, trust THIS ONE!

I’m traveling to Key West this week. I was going to golf here but after looking at the reviews and rude responses from management. It’s hilarious I’ve decided to save my money. Thanks everyone

Played two days in a row! Overall condition and layout was fantastic! Challenging small greens make scoring tough! Cart lady was awesome 😎! Downside was pro shop, bar employees not friendly and borderline rude! Must upgrade the driving range and balls, as they are a JOKE! Super $$$$$$$ for a 3 STAR course!

We were part of a Cruise that made a stop in Key West in the end of Dec and decided to play a little golf, I did my due diligence read the reviews, some good and some bad but was willing to make my own decision. Glad I did the staff were all very friendly Juan in the pro shop is a person who if I had a business to run would definitely be my front of house go to guy. The course was in great condition even with the rain they received prior to and unfortunately mid round. The rental clubs were top shelf and the cart staff were helpful and friendly. Don’t be swayed by the negative comments as I found them to be unwarranted. If we ever stop in to Key West this will definitely be a must stop and play. Keep up the great work on keeping the course in great playing condition and your professional staff. Thanks for the memories.

It’s a dog track that charges you $200 a round. The only saving grace of this lazy course is the cart girl Petra. Shout out to her
