Key West Golf Club

Key West, Florida, USAFlorida Keys

Key West Golf Club presents an accessible yet challenging 18-hole public course blending coastal influences with Florida's trademark playability. Its vibrant setting and well-maintained layout offer a welcoming round for visitors eager to enjoy island golf.

Course Overview

Key West Golf Club offers an 18-hole layout that captures the vibrant spirit of its tropical setting while presenting a compelling challenge for golfers of varying skill levels. Located just minutes from downtown Key West, the course operates as a public venue, making it accessible to visitors seeking a quality round in a truly unique Florida environment. Stretching approximately 6,500 yards with a par of 72, the design emphasizes shot-making and strategic play amid its coastal influences.

The flat terrain and open fairways coexist with coastal winds that can subtly alter club selection and shot trajectory, providing a dynamic experience that rewards thoughtful play. The course blends elements typical of Florida golf, including palm-lined corridors and natural water hazards, without feeling overly punishing for mid- to high-handicap players. Fairways are generally generous, but the well-maintained greens add a layer of complexity with subtle undulations that test putting accuracy.

Throughout the course, water hazards and strategically placed bunkers are constant reminders of the need for precision. Several holes feature forced carries and approach shots requiring careful judgment, especially when the breeze picks up. The variety keeps players engaged, balancing moments of risk and reward.

Beyond the fairways, the club's amenities support an enjoyable day of golf. The pro shop is staffed by helpful personnel offering rental clubs and equipment that receive positive feedback for quality. On-course rangers actively maintain pace-of-play, ensuring rounds progress smoothly even during peak times.

Players aiming to walk the course will find the layout friendly underfoot, with smooth cart paths and manageable distances between holes. Light rain and occasional tropical weather can be factors, so quick-drying shoes and flexible attire are advisable.

Key West Golf Club stands out as an inviting destination for travelers eager to embrace golf in a setting infused with island charm, practical design, and a welcoming atmosphere. While it challenges players to think their way around the course, it keeps the mood light and approachable for all who arrive ready to enjoy the game.

Course Highlights

We weren’t expecting much because of the bad reviews about the pro shop staff, but we ended up being pleasantly surprised! Everyone in the pro shop was kind and welcoming, nothing like previous reviews had mentioned. The course was in good shape and had a good pace of play. Rental clubs were in great shape, and had a great time!

Had a great round here at Key West Golf Club. Beautiful course. Lots of fun/challenging holes. Surprised the reviews were so low -- don't trust them, trust THIS ONE!

We were part of a Cruise that made a stop in Key West in the end of Dec and decided to play a little golf, I did my due diligence read the reviews, some good and some bad but was willing to make my own decision. Glad I did the staff were all very friendly Juan in the pro shop is a person who if I had a business to run would definitely be my front of house go to guy. The course was in great condition even with the rain they received prior to and unfortunately mid round. The rental clubs were top shelf and the cart staff were helpful and friendly. Don’t be swayed by the negative comments as I found them to be unwarranted. If we ever stop in to Key West this will definitely be a must stop and play. Keep up the great work on keeping the course in great playing condition and your professional staff. Thanks for the memories.

Worth the 150 bucks. Range isn’t very good but nice balls. Course is really fun. Great layout that will leave you some long approach shots into greens. challenging greens complex. condition was acceptable. Rough 5/10 Fairway 8/10 Greens 7/10 Staff were very welcoming and polite, not sure where the negative feedback is coming from. I’m assuming people did not read the rules and try to put the blame on the staff… There is a 2 cart max per group and you cannot play in twosomes or alone, so expect to not be able to have a rider.

I’m traveling to Key West this week. I was going to golf here but after looking at the reviews and rude responses from management. It’s hilarious I’ve decided to save my money. Thanks everyone

I was excited to take my husband here on July 1, 2025 for his birthday as we were here visiting and this quickly turned into a negative experience so much that we ended our hole at 9. I was expecting the worst from staff based on the reviews (the young guy that got us to our cart was extremely friendly) but it happened to be the people we had to play with at our scheduled tee time. They were absolutely horrible to my husband and I. We introduced ourselves and they acted like they didn’t want to shake our hands. As we begin to play, they were playing ahead which we didn’t mind as they were extremely rude from the beginning. The course ranger came to us first and told us we had to play as a group and we let him know they didn’t want to play with us and wanted to play ahead. He went over to them and told them we had to play as a group. I could clearly see the older gentleman roll his eyes. At this point I was extremely frustrated. The only thing I could see as a reason they didn’t want to play with us was because we happened to black. My suggestion here with situations like this, the customer should be allowed to not have to play with people that are clearly being rude and disrespectful or bring your own group because you could end up with disrespectful people at your scheduled tee time. After spending over $347 to play and not even finishing the course, this was a waste of my time and money. I should have been given half a refund. My husband didn’t even enjoy his time on the green.

It’s a dog track that charges you $200 a round. The only saving grace of this lazy course is the cart girl Petra. Shout out to her

Played two days in a row! Overall condition and layout was fantastic! Challenging small greens make scoring tough! Cart lady was awesome 😎! Downside was pro shop, bar employees not friendly and borderline rude! Must upgrade the driving range and balls, as they are a JOKE! Super $$$$$$$ for a 3 STAR course!
