Kahler Mountain Club

Leavenworth, Washington, USAEastern Washington

Set among the Cascade foothills, Kahler Mountain Club offers an 18-hole mountain-style course featuring significant elevation changes and well-maintained greens. Combining challenging golf with comfortable lodging and a friendly atmosphere, it is a compelling choice for players seeking a Pacific Northwest experience.

Course Overview

Kahler Mountain Club in Leavenworth, Washington, offers an 18-hole golf experience set against the dramatic backdrop of the Cascade foothills. This mountain-style layout challenges golfers with significant elevation changes that reward thoughtful shot-making and strategy. The course stretches to just over 6,200 yards from the back tees, with a par of 70, providing a demanding but fair test for players of varied skill levels.

From the first tee, the course reveals its character. Fairways carve through natural pine and fir stands, creating corridors that require accuracy off the tee. The undulating terrain ensures that no two shots feel alike, as uphill and downhill lies influence club selection and swing execution. Greens are generally well-maintained and quick to respond, inviting serious putting but allowing for subtle breaks and slopes to be read with care.

The mountain air brings refreshing coolness in summer months, but players should be prepared for occasional mosquito activity, especially later in the day. Carts are included with the green fee, a practical advantage on this course’s varied terrain, helping players conserve energy for the more technical approach shots and tricky greens.

Facilities at Kahler Mountain Club extend beyond golf. The lodging options offer a relaxing retreat, with quiet, spacious condos ideally situated for families or groups. The on-site restaurant is noted for hearty, flavorful meals, including standout smash burgers that complement a day on the links.

Maintenance challenges have been noted periodically, particularly concerning irrigation and fairway conditions; however, the greens consistently hold up as a strong feature and the staff’s attention to service remains a positive. For those planning a visit, the best times tend to be earlier in the day to avoid mosquitos and fully enjoy the course’s natural contours and mountain vistas.

Whether you are seeking a spirited round amid forested slopes or a mountain getaway combining golf with cozy lodging and dining, Kahler Mountain Club delivers a distinctive Pacific Northwest journey that engages both the player’s skills and senses.

Course Highlights

The course’s mountain terrain shapes its identity, with significant elevation shifts demanding thoughtful club selection. Pine and fir trees line fairways, adding both visual appeal and strategic complexity. The greens are known for their true and consistent roll, offering rewarding putting surfaces. The combination of golf and on-site lodging provides a well-rounded experience for visitors.

Amazing customer service, fantastic food, and a cozy, quiet condo! We stayed here over Veteran’s Day weekend and Karen was amazing when it came to helping us with check in after an unforeseen schedule change (another agency double-booked our other rental in Leavenworth and we had no where to stay). Our condo (G3) was quiet, spatious, and beautiful. It worked well for our family of five. The grounds are lovely and so was the drive. The restaurant on site has very tasty dishes for adults and kids alike, they hand-make some amazing and healthy pasta dishes. We had not planned to stay here, but now we’re considering coming back again!!! Thank you for a pleasant vacation for the whole family!

This review is of the golf course. As a local, I want to support the course. However, the maintenance of the course is as bad as I have ever seen. The greens remain the only bright spot. Tee boxes have deteriorated to the point of being nearly unplayable. The fairways are a tragedy. Irrigation system is in need of complete overhaul. Numerous areas of drainage issues causing soggy saturated spots while most parts of the fairways are not receiving any water. All of this with a $90+ green fee (weekend, includes cart). No exaggeration when I say the Cashmere golf course is a better value and in better condition. I would not recommend this course to anyone. Hoping there are improvements for the '24 season.

Beautiful course to golf really fun. Great lunch the smash burgers were delicious, would have liked to have them open a little earlier for some practice and bring mosquito repellent they like to bite.

I love to come play 18 holes at Kahler whenever I’m in Leavenworth, it’s a very creative and unique course with a lot of elevation change, carts included is a blessing and at a reasonable price. Well maintained and greens roll very predictably at a good speed, fairways are in pretty good shape too. Highly recommend playing here whenever you can! Thank you hard working people for the amazing experience playing here!

I played the golf course but did not stay on-site. The course is well taken care of and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you're playing an afternoon round, bring the mosquito repellent!
