Visiting from New Zealand this style of golf course was new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it amongst the trees framing the stunning mountains in the distance. Nice water features and bunkers throughout. Thanks to Stan and Bill for letting me join their group.

First time experiencing this superb 18 hole mountain course. The fragrance of pine trees and the surrounding mountains make this course very special and memorable. We had a blast playing, it's affordable, the customer service is over the top, and a fun patio lounge for the 19th hole awaits you! Lots of locals hanging out afterwards and I gotta tell ya...it was hard to leave this bliss. I highly recommend you experience this course while visiting Mammoth Lakes! Well done!

I am really bummed to write this review....I have been playing Sierra Star for over 15 years and have rated this course as a 4 Star in the past. My son (14 years old/9 handicap) and I (have played golf for 44 years/5 handicap) just played 18 holes today. While having lunch, the bartender said that 2 greens were in bad condition. We paid $180 for both of us to play at noon. 17 greens of the 18 were literally unplayable....not 2!! When I say unplayable...I stopped taking my putter to the green after hole #3. We kept playing to basically work on our tee shots and approach shots...then pick up our ball when we got to the green. After the round, I spoke with the pro. He stuck a framed piece of paper in front of me that stated that the average condition of a few greens....and the "pro" said that there were only 4 greens that were in poor condition. I was completely shocked that he felt comfortable making a statement like that being a pro of this course. Looks like we have to drive to Bishop now to play golf and wait until next year to see if things change.

Beautiful fairways, views and friendly staff are why there are 2 stars. The greens were terrible last weekend. The ones that weren't actual dirt were bumpy patch grass that made putting zero fun. I would not have played here had I known before hand. Hope they adress this.
