Palmerton, Pennsylvania, USAEastern Pennsylvania

Blue Shamrock Golf Club offers an 18-hole golf experience defined by well-kept fairways, firm greens, and an approachable yet strategic layout. Located in Palmerton, PA, this course balances scenic terrain with playability that suits a broad range of skill levels.

Course Overview

Blue Shamrock Golf Club presents an intriguing golfing experience off Fireline Road in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. This 18-hole course offers a blend of scenic challenge and accessible play, catering to a broad range of golfers seeking both a test of skill and an opportunity to engage with a natural landscape shaped by gentle elevation changes and mature trees. The layout strikes a balance between strategic demands and enjoyable pace, making it a favored venue for locals and visitors alike.

The course plays over a robust yardage length that may initially feel unconventional due to its unique tee box combinations rather than standard color-coded sets. Players report an adjustment phase as they familiarize themselves with the course’s measuring system, but soon the rhythm of the holes becomes clear. Fairways are consistently well-maintained, providing reliable lies, while greens present a firm but receptive surface that requires careful approach shots. Bunkers are composed of hard sand, adding a distinct texture to shots from the sand, especially after recent rainfall.

While the course does not offer extensive amenities on the course itself—such as ball washers or on-course restrooms—it compensates with attentive groundskeeping and a welcoming clubhouse atmosphere. A lounge remodel is underway, signaling improvements to off-course comfort and social spaces. Players who appreciate the walk’s quiet pace will find the terrain moderately undulating and manageable with proper footwear, although some have noted that the course charges the same fee for walkers and riders.

Strategically placed bunkers and tree-lined fairways shape the course’s character, requiring thoughtful shot placement more than brute power. The setting’s natural contours combine with consistent conditioning to provide a dependable, engaging round. For golfers chasing variety, this course offers a refreshing alternative to more heavily trafficked regional layouts. Expect a layout that demands focus without sacrificing enjoyment, fitting nicely into a Central Pennsylvania golf itinerary.

Planning a visit here means preparing for a pace of play that encourages walking, bringing your own comfort provisions, and anticipating a course maintained by dedicated staff committed to its steady improvement. Blue Shamrock Golf Club invites players to sharpen their game while appreciating an unpretentious yet fulfilling golf experience amid eastern Pennsylvania’s quietly striking landscape.

My first experience here. The greens are in rough shape. The fairways are really nice.. the course is challenging and very scenic .. The traps are hard sand,( they did have some decent rain in the days leading up) but well groomed. I would have given this a 4 ⭐️ , but my beef was that the green fee was the same to walk as it would be to ride. , I love walking when golfing.. They are charging for a service (as a walker ) I'm not getting.. kinda strange...

Course is in excellent condition. Just wish the fairways were a little smoother on the back.

First time here today, and the greens were a little rough and bumpy, but the field crews were there and working on the entire golf course. They will be opening a remodeled lounge they just got done with and will open it later on, but I don't know a date, sorry. Look forward to going back again this year.

Course was in great shape so late in the year. Golf distances are a little tough to figure if you are use to blue, white, yellow and red tee boxes but you get use to the combo card quick. All and all A very nice course will play again.

Fantastic course for the price, well kept, always enjoy playing here. Not much in the way of amenities (like ball cleaners, trash cans on course, restrooms on course, ice in club house..etc). But well worth the price and highly recommend!
