Diamond Links Golf Course blends challenging play with natural elevation and scenic views in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. This 18-hole public layout tests accuracy and strategy, particularly with its striking elevated tee shots and rolling terrain.
Course Overview
Located in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Diamond Links Golf Course offers an 18-hole challenge that balances bold shot-making with strategic decision-making. This public course caters to a diverse range of golfers, from those testing their accuracy off the tee to players who prefer a more cautious approach. With a layout that rewards both risk and restraint, each hole invites a unique encounter with the terrain that is as mentally stimulating as it is physical.
The course’s design presents fairways that demand precision, as the undulating landscape shapes shot trajectories and landing zones. Water hazards and thick rough offer natural obstacles, encouraging club selection strategies that weigh risk against reward. One of the standout features is the par-3 10th hole, which requires a tee shot from an elevated deck down to a green positioned dramatically below, providing not only a compelling challenge but also impressive visual perspective over the course’s rolling hills.
Grass conditions have varied seasonally, but maintenance efforts generally keep the turf in good shape, especially considering weather fluctuations common to this region. Those planning to play should be aware that walking the course presents a significant workout, with elevation changes that test stamina and reward a steady pace. Carts are available upon request, but the experience of traversing the course on foot remains a popular choice among local regulars.
The welcoming pro shop staff enhances the overall atmosphere with knowledgeable support and rental club options, making the course accessible to visitors who might not travel with their own equipment. Parking can be limited during peak hours, so players are encouraged to consider carpooling when visiting.
Diamond Links provides a golf experience that calls for commitment and pays dividends through its natural beauty and strategic demands. It challenges players to adapt, rewarding versatile shot-makers and offering a refreshing contrast from more straightforward layouts in the region. Whether visiting for a casual round or aiming to hone precision skills, the course delivers a thoughtful balance between accessibility and test, framed by quiet hills and a rugged Kentucky backdrop.

This place is amazing came from Michigan and played 36 today, the staff in the pro shop are great very friendly and helpful. The course is breathtaking with views for days in all directions, grass was long due too heavy rains but the second round it was a major difference cut down. The 10th hole is really cool you hit off a deck down quite a ways on a par 3.

The only reason for the 2 was the ranger was super friendly. The course was in terrible condition, lost 4 balls in the fairway, no BS. Cart was junk, greens were aweful. Prolly wont go back.

Nice challenging course. Will have you using every club in your bag. The staff and the owner were very nice. Came from NY for work and played here both of our trips.

This course is a short and daring course, every hole is drivable but with risks. If you layup off the tee every hole the course is very gettable. The greens are slow, but the course is well manicured. Walking though isn't for the faint of heart, and is a great calf workout! The scenery is beautiful and very quiet. The only bad thing I can say about this place is there is very limited parking so carpooling is the best Idea.
