Williams Creek Golf Course

Knoxville, Tennessee, USAEast Tennessee

Williams Creek Golf Course in Knoxville, TN, is an 18-hole par-3 layout that highlights short-game challenges nestled against scenic mountain views. A practical choice for beginners and experienced golfers alike, it balances playability with subtle course intricacies and ongoing improvements.

Course Overview

Williams Creek Golf Course offers a compact yet fulfilling golf experience centered on its 18-hole par-3 layout. Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, this public course presents an accessible challenge for players seeking to sharpen their short game or enjoy a quick round amid a scenic mountain backdrop. The course weaves gently through rolling terrain, with several holes offering elevated tees that frame expansive views of the surrounding hills. While the layout leans toward playability for a range of skill levels, the persistent undulations of the greens and well-placed bunkers demand thoughtful shot-making and tempo control.

Maintenance varies across the course, as recent renovations address some uneven surfaces, particularly on the greens. Several holes are currently serviced via mats for tee shots, indicative of ongoing improvements. Despite these conditions, Williams Creek’s greens maintain a moderate pace and present subtle breaks that reward focused putting. Golf carts equipped with GPS add a layer of convenience given the course’s hillside setting and occasional elevation changes that test stamina for walkers.

The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming both beginners working on fundamentals and seasoned players looking for a brisk yet engaging outing. Wildlife sightings add a natural element, enhancing the sensory connection to this Tennessee landscape. Meanwhile, the driving range with mat and grass options allows players to warm up extensively before tackling the front nine or enjoying extended practice sessions.

The clubhouse provides a straightforward, no-frills hub for check-in while staff are noted for their friendly assistance. Visitors should plan for a course that emphasizes short-game skills over length but may require flexibility regarding tee surfaces and green conditions during ongoing course upgrades. Playing early in the day or on weekdays can yield a quieter pace and a more serene setting.

Williams Creek Golf Course suits golfers who prioritize approach shots and putting within a mountain foothill context. Its blend of practical features and natural scenery captures the essence of accessible golf in East Tennessee without overwhelming complexity.

Course Highlights

.... and I feel the two stars is high. Good thing is new carts with GPS. Greens are a mess, nobody repairs ball marks, a lot of them have sand to hide the repair plugs, tees are not well marked or yardage accurate....use the golf cart or your own finder. Most courses are set Pro, Average, Senior, Ladies and the yardage is reduced accordingly... not so on this course. If you go out to play ignore the color of the tees. ALso, the cost is high, especially for whay you get.

So played Williams creek today! Nice par three course for the HOT DEAL price on GOLF NOW! Some of the greens are in poor conditions! Some of the tee boxes were cover in sand! Overall they have a nice driving range if you prefer hitting from a Mat!

Whoever is working on the morning 6/4 answering the phone taking tee times is going to lose this place a lot of business.

Great little par 3 golf course. It's really well-maintained. People in the Pro shop were really friendly. Carts with GPS. The greens are in very good shape and fairly challenging. We will definitely be coming back this year.

It is an amazing place with great views over the mountains. The golf carts have GPS and are fun to drive up and down the hills. It is great for beginners and professionals. We also saw a lot of wildlife and truly enjoyed ourselves.

Visiting from Charleston, South Carolina and this is an amazing course. Course has pretty good views and the greens were legit. I see other people complaining about hitting off a few mats but they're doing some great renovation and that just comes with it. I also had a cool buddy who stayed on my back for 7 entire holes (pictures). All in all, great course. Highly recommend.
