Course Overview
Cattails at MeadowView Golf Course presents an engaging 18-hole, public layout that balances playability with subtle challenges amid a scenic Tennessee backdrop. Located in Kingsport, this course unfolds across gently rolling terrain characteristic of the Appalachian foothills, lending a natural rhythm to each hole. The design leans toward a parkland style, with strategic tree lines, native grasses, and water features shaping the way the course demands thoughtful shot placement without overpowering less-experienced players.
Golfers encounter fairways bordered by stands of cattails and reeds that give the course its name, while small ponds and streams come into play on several holes, encouraging both accuracy and patience. The greens are consistently rated as a standout trait here, with subtle breaks and firm surfaces that invite well-executed approach shots and offer a rewarding putting experience for all skill levels. Though some might find certain holes more testing, the course remains approachable, welcoming beginners and casual players alongside more seasoned golfers seeking a solid challenge.
Cattails does not currently offer a driving range, but a well-maintained practice green allows players to fine-tune their putting before the round. The layout’s length and varied hazards call for a balanced mix of precision and distance, making club selection critical, especially with native roughs that penalize wayward shots. Many players appreciate the course’s steady conditioning and the friendly atmosphere maintained by attentive staff who prioritize an inviting round.
Walking is encouraged here, offering a chance to engage more intimately with the course’s natural contours and landscape, though carts are available to accommodate all preferences and stamina levels. The usually quiet yet inviting setting makes Cattails a favored destination for local golfers and visitors looking for a well-kept, relaxed, and engaging experience without the pressure found on more tournament-focused venues.
Plan for a day at Cattails by wearing comfortable shoes suitable for undulating terrain and preparing for varied wind conditions that subtly influence strategy across the front and back nines. With its blend of natural beauty, thoughtful layout, and reliable playing conditions, Cattails at MeadowView delivers a refreshing chapter in Tennessee’s diverse golfing portfolio.

Great course and always love playing it, but Rusty, the ranger, was nothing but rude to our group while we were up there this weekend

Fun course, good greens. Really pleasant experience overall. Everything is in good condition on the course and the staff is amazing. There were a few areas around the greens that need some work, but it seems that will be fixed judging by the condition of the rest of the course. Wish there was a driving range, but the practice green is very nice.

Very nice course. The greens had been punched but still were quick and true. It was a little expensive for weekend play, but I would still recommend it to everyone.

Really nice course. Lots of variety and challenge on the holes, but nothing too punishing, even for someone who hasn’t golfed in a couple decades like myself. The staff at the pro shop and on the course (the starters) were extremely helpful and friendly - I really appreciated how welcoming and accommodating they were to someone who had been away from the game for so long. I also just had some nice chats with them! Other golfers on the course also friendly and respectful.
