Course Overview
Set against the rugged backdrop of Bar Harbor, Maine, Kebo Valley Club offers an 18-hole golf experience that balances natural beauty with strategic challenge. This private, classic course features a par 70 layout stretching just under 6,000 yards, making it approachable for a wide range of golfers without sacrificing intrigue. The course weaves through a landscape marked by gently rolling fairways, rocky outcroppings, and well-placed bunkers that demand thoughtful shot selection. Players navigating Kebo Valley encounter a series of holes that reward precision over power, with several short par 5s and challenging par 4s that test accuracy and course management.
The setting is framed by sweeping mountain views and quiet babbling brooks, providing a calm, contemplative atmosphere while the ocean air subtly influences wind conditions, particularly on the elevated tee boxes. Natural undulations in the fairways invite strategic positioning, and the greens are known for their subtle breaks and firm surfaces. While the course is shorter than some championship layouts, its design complexity rewards planning and creativity.
Kebo Valley Club encourages walking, allowing golfers to engage fully with the terrain and enjoy a healthy workout. The course’s walking routes generally suit intermediate to advanced players with steady mobility; proper footwear is recommended due to natural uneven footing on certain holes. Club management promotes a courteous pace of play to avoid congestion, though players should be aware that during busy periods, waits can occur due to limited oversight.
Amenities include a classic clubhouse serving as a central point for members, with a welcoming staff and facilities that support both golf and social activity. Visitors have noted the friendly atmosphere, making the round not just a test of golf but an opportunity to savor the distinctive Maine coastal environment.
Kebo Valley balances a rugged natural setting with a thoughtful course architecture to offer a genuine golfing experience that honors tradition while engaging players of varying skill levels. The course itself is a wonderful pre golden age design in good condition. However, it should not take over 4.5 hours to play a sub 6000 yard course. Short par 5s, many blind shots, and no oversight by club management led to 5 minute waits on every shot.

Beautiful golf course in Bar Harbor. Had a phenomenal morning round, great weather and scenery too. Course is on the shorter side with a par 70. Would definitely come back to play next time I’m in Bar Harbor! Tee times can be booked 6 days in advance.

We really enjoyed golfing at Kebo Valley! It was very very close to downtown Bar Harbor, the views were great, and the condition of the course was great. If you are playing only 9 holes, the layout of the course makes it difficult (you end up 1.5 miles from the clubhouse and need to weave through the other holes with people hitting into you). The course is also very expensive compared to what I am used to. But if you are in Bar Harbor I would recommend playing this course!
