Foothills Golf Course

Denver, Colorado, USADenver Metro

Foothills Golf Course offers Denver golfers three well-maintained layouts, including an 18-hole championship course that balances challenge with approachability. Its parkland setting and mountain-edge views make it a practical and inviting option for a diverse range of players.

Course Overview

Foothills Golf Course in Denver, Colorado, offers a diverse golfing experience across its 27 holes, featuring three distinct layouts: a championship 18, an executive 9, and a par-3 course. This public facility provides a versatile setting suitable for players from various skill levels, with each course designed to deliver unique challenges without feeling overwhelming. Its blend of parkland-style fairways and subtle elevation changes reflects the natural contours of the Denver foothills, creating a landscape that invites thoughtful shot selection and steady play.

Set against a backdrop of Colorado’s urban and mountainous edge, the course is open year-round, making it a reliable choice for locals and visitors seeking accessible golf. The 18-hole championship course demands attention to accuracy and course management, while the executive and par-3 courses offer excellent options for beginners or players looking to sharpen their short game.

Amenities include a recently renovated clubhouse that serves as a comfortable gathering place before and after rounds. While the new facility enhances the overall experience, golfers should note that tee times can be tightly scheduled, and pace of play occasionally slows, especially later in the day. Walking is encouraged, with the terrain offering a manageable but steady journey through fairways framed by well-maintained landscaping. However, the front nine currently lacks restroom facilities, a consideration for those planning their rounds.

The staff is generally welcoming, though some players have found the lesson scheduling process less organized and suggest booking well in advance. Despite minor operational hiccups, Foothills Golf Course retains a solid reputation for accessibility and value, particularly for players wanting a robust round without leaving the city.

For anyone wanting a well-rounded golf outing near Denver, Foothills provides a balanced test of golf that rewards patience and accuracy. Its multiple course options make this a practical destination for both casual rounds and more focused practice sessions, while the views toward nearby mountains add an understated character to the game. This course’s setup suits those ready to enjoy Colorado golf outside the more crowded mountain resorts, with ample space to refine every aspect of their game.

Course Highlights

The 18-hole championship course features a thoughtful parkland design blending elevation shifts with tree-lined fairways. The executive and par-3 courses offer varied playing opportunities, ideal for skill development. Recent clubhouse renovations improve amenities, though the front nine of the main course lacks restrooms. The setting at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains lends subtle mountain views without steep mountain terrain, creating a unique golf environment within city limits.

Beware of signing up for lessons at this course. They don’t keep records of credit card charges or lesson packages. I bought a package last year. After a series of issues with instructor, I requested a refund of my remaining package. I made the mistake of assuming they would keep track of account. It has been almost a year and the instructor was hard to schedule lessons with. She wouldn’t return calls or texts. My daughter made several attempts to schedule a lesson and the instructor wouldn’t respond. I finally got a lesson scheduled for her and when she showed up the instructor told her she had the time wrong. I had the text messages from the instructor to prove my daughter showed up at right time -the instructor wrote the time wrong. Instructor never bothered calling back again to reschedule lesson. Nobody knows how much I should be refunded. The managers at the course treated me like I was being unreasonable in having the expectation that they track lessons. Neither management nor this instructor have any accountability for the lesson packages. They said I should have been tracking it and I should know all the details? Wow. Just wow! The lack of professionalism and accountability is unfortunate. The instructor blamed a traumatic brain injury jury for her lack of follow through and poor executive functioning skills and when I tried to express sympathy for that but still being frustrated at what had happened the manager dressed me down for bringing up the brain injury. I brought it up because it is what the instructor uses as an excuse for her poor executive functioning skills. I was trying to be sympathetic. They have zero interest in customer service. That was 100% a phone call from the manager where she was antagonistic from the start.

The layout isn't terrible, and the new clubhouse is nice. Not really anywhere to leave your bag outside, at least at the front of the building. Food took over an hour when we ordered. Staff was generally pleasant but seemed stressed in the clubhouse. Probably won't return as there are better options in the area. It's not the best, but also not the worst.

The new club house is very nice. Three courses, a par 3, and executive 9, and a championship 18. Each course has at least a couple holes that make you think. Only issue is tee times are packed pretty tight and pace of play is pretty slow.

Beautiful looking course in great shape. Price was very good and the starters were friendly. Were they lose a star was for pace of play. The front 9 was decent but things really started getting backed up on the back 9. No marshall for all 18 holes. Also the front 9 has no bathrooms which is insane for a golf course. I'd definitely play again as it was a good challenge and a really good but no too tough walk.
