Williamsburg National Golf Club

Williamsburg, Virginia, USACoastal Virginia

Williamsburg National Golf Club offers two distinctive 18-hole championship courses blending traditional parkland design with strategic challenges. Set in a peaceful Virginia landscape, these private courses suit a range of skill levels and emphasize quality conditioning alongside member-focused amenities.

Course Overview

Williamsburg National Golf Club stands as a distinguished private golf facility featuring two 18-hole championship courses: Jamestown and Yorktown. Located in the serene setting of Williamsburg, Virginia, these courses offer contrasting challenges that appeal to a broad spectrum of players. The Jamestown course presents a traditional parkland-style layout, with tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers that demand precise shot placement. Rolling terrain and mature oaks frame the holes, while small ponds add a subtle water hazard element that tests thoughtful course management.

Yorktown, by comparison, weaves a slightly more open design with wider fairways that encourage aggressive play but still requires respect for its intricately contoured greens. Both courses benefit from meticulous maintenance that keeps turf conditions consistently at a high standard, enhancing the overall playing experience regardless of skill level.

The club’s atmosphere melds the tranquility of its wooded surroundings with an emphasis on member comfort and accessibility. Though private, Williamsburg National emphasizes walking the course whenever conditions permit, allowing golfers to fully engage with the natural rhythm of the landscape. Caddies are available, providing valuable insight and local knowledge that can sharpen competitive play. For visitors, the clubhouse offers refined amenities including dining facilities and practice areas suitable for warming up before a round.

The dual-course setup accommodates a mix of paced rounds and casual play, making Williamsburg National appealing both to low handicappers seeking strategic depth and intermediate players aiming for steady improvement. Seasonal playability remains strong, with spring through fall offering the ideal window to enjoy moderate temperatures and lush vistas.

Golfers arriving can expect an experience aligned with classic East Coast golf traditions, where subtle elevation changes and challenging greens test patience and precision without overwhelming. With a reputation for elevating member satisfaction through course care and service, Williamsburg National remains a fixture for those in the region seeking quality private golf.

Here is the best golf course I've ever been to. Stunning, beautiful and everyting you would think it would be-historic course(Jamestown, Yorktown), amazing grounds, good people, friendly and kind staffs. I always enjoy golf here. My feeble attempts to describe this experience make it unbearable to be there. It was a really great experience!! Photos of the course to follow. This is fantastic golf paradise!!!

People fishing in the pond. Every shot is 5 minutes wait time. No Marshall around. Got cursed at two people fishing in the pond and running around on the green when we asked them to move. Marshall wasn’t able to remove them effectively and they came back. Nightmare golf course. Big mistake booking two day golf trip here.

One of the best kept courses I've played. I played on Yorktown and enjoyed it. Fairways were in good condition. All the bunkers except one were in good condition. The greens were in better condition than my local places.

Completely unrecognizable from old ownership in the mid-2000’s. Having the Yorktown course to go along with the original Jamestown gives it two of the best courses in Williamsburg. Quality improves yearly and membership has soared.
