Heron Ridge Golf Club

Virginia Beach, Virginia, USACoastal Virginia

Heron Ridge Golf Club delivers a balanced 18-hole public course that blends parkland style with subtle coastal traits. Its strategic layout, well-conditioned turf, and welcoming clubhouse facilities cater to a broad range of golfers seeking a thoughtful yet accessible round in Virginia Beach.

Course Overview

Heron Ridge Golf Club presents an 18-hole, public layout that challenges golfers in Virginia Beach's vibrant coastal setting. The course combines parkland elements with subtle coastal influences, offering a varied playing experience shaped by gentle elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, and strategically placed hazards. The routing encourages strategic shotmaking while maintaining an accessible challenge for a broad range of skill levels.

Spanning just over 6,400 yards from the back tees, Heron Ridge demands thoughtful navigation. Players encounter well-guarded greens that reward approach accuracy and feature subtle breaks that test putting strokes. The course’s natural contours guide golfers through a landscape punctuated with water hazards and sand bunkers, each designed to engage but not frustrate the player.

The clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub featuring modern facilities, a pro shop, and dining options that complement the overall experience. Ample practice areas, including a driving range and putting greens, allow golfers to warm up thoroughly before stepping onto the first tee.

Though the layout leans toward players with some experience, it remains approachable for newcomers who appreciate a test without excessive punishment. Local players often praise the conditioning, especially during the spring and fall seasons, when the course’s natural grasses and foliage come alive.

Visitors should be prepared for walking terrain that has moderate undulations and a layout that favors walking over cart play when weather permits. Solid walking shoes and an early tee time will enhance your enjoyment and help avoid the afternoon coastal breezes that can influence ball flight.

While the course’s challenges will appeal to mid- and low handicappers, the melodic flow of holes and thoughtful design elements make Heron Ridge a rewarding outing for all. The combination of maintained turf, natural water elements, and regional flora creates an environment that invites players to focus their game while absorbing Virginia Beach’s unique golf atmosphere.

Whether seeking to sharpen your skills or enjoy a day on the course with friends, Heron Ridge Golf Club offers a balanced blend of challenge, beauty, and comfort in a public setting inviting to both locals and visitors alike.

Course Highlights

Practice facilities including a driving range and putting areas complement play, enhancing preparation for each round.

Course was in great shape and very challenging. Priced accordingly in my opinion. 164 for 2 players to play 18 and a cart. Club house was beautiful on the inside. Will definitely come back if we come back to Vabeach

Way overpriced… especially when VB National is 10 mins away and $15 more for a wildly better course & facility

I haven't played here since highschool and it's immaculate. A little tougher than most public courses in Virginia Beach, so hackers beware! No snacks on cart and cash only is ridiculous. Dying of thirst on the course. Thanks for that.

Course was nice. Ranger was obnoxious. Came up and yelled at us multiple times about pace of play and we finished in under 4 hours

Great warm up areas. Friendly staff. Great carts. Discount for locals which is very nice. Course was in great shape minus some areas on the greens. I think the weather has caused some of the issue with the grass on the greens. Overall great course!

In town for conference and just called to get tee time…man with northern accent who was taking tee times very rude. Had a couple simple questions and he acted like I was bothering him. So I will not be playing there, not that they probably care, but you really should have better customer service if you want business.
