Bayville Golf Club
Bayville Golf Club offers an intriguing 18-hole par-3 layout in Virginia Beach, where precision and strategy dominate amid a tight, wooded setting. This semi-private course challenges golfers to consider every shot carefully in a peaceful, focused environment.
Course Overview
Bayville Golf Club presents a distinctive golfing experience in Virginia Beach, Virginia, blending a compact layout with surprising strategic depth. This 18-hole par-54 course consists entirely of par-3 holes, a format that challenges precision over brute distance. The course stretches a modest total yardage but demands accuracy through its heavily wooded landscape, where the rough is unforgiving and fairways narrow. Each hole threads through dense trees that frame the fairways tightly, creating a quiet, focused atmosphere where shotmaking takes priority.
Players encounter subtle elevation changes and thoughtfully placed bunkers that guard the greens, emphasizing careful club selection and trajectory control. The course’s design rewards those who can balance tactful shot shaping with consistent distance control. Given its all-par-3 configuration, Bayville appeals especially to golfers working on their short game and approach shots, though even low handicappers find challenge in the tight corridors and crosswinds common near the coast.
Bayville operates as a semi-private club with a significant initiation fee reflective of its high maintenance and quality facilities. While it does not offer vast resort amenities, the course is supported by attentive staff and well-placed restrooms, contributing to a comfortable round. Two practice holes near the first tee provide a convenient warm-up area. Golf carts are available, but walking is encouraged to fully appreciate the compact yet dense routing of holes.
The setting is primarily wooded, offering shelter from urban distractions and a sense of immersion that suits players seeking focus and enjoyment without the distractions of a sprawling resort environment. Limited water hazards keep the challenge centered on shot accuracy amid the trees. The course is known for its friendly marshals and efficient pace of play, although the popularity means peak times can feel busy.
Players planning a visit should prepare for tree-lined challenges and bring precise clubs suited for short but demanding shots. Comfortable footwear is advised for walking the gently rolling terrain. Bayville Golf Club offers a unique golfing destination in Virginia Beach that favors technique and mental engagement, delivering a rewarding experience for those prepared to meet its exacting standards.

I’ve only been to so many high end golf courses so I don’t have much to compare to but - the course is ultra beautiful. Doesn’t play easy if your used to city courses- the rough is no joke. Leave the fairway and you’ll have issues. Staff/Marshall friendly and helpful. A lot of engineering and work went into this course and it shows when you play.

Really enjoy the course. It is very wooded but well marked so you can find your way around. All holes are par 3 but with the trees it can be tough. Restrooms are in the park and there is plenty of parking. Two practice holes are located close to first hole. The course is very popular so it can get crowded.

Thought this was a semi private club just to find out there is a $75,000 initiation fee and they don’t even have a swimming pool. This place needs a reality check, like is there gold in the fairway each time I chip some grass out of it.

Never saw neither one of their cart drivers until me and my co worker was having a convo. Then suddenly they rode pass us non stop.

The guy that said it was bad isn't a golfer. This is not only a great layout but one of the nicest clubs at the Beach. If you are going to the beach and can get on you won't be disappointed.
