The Beaufort Club

Beaufort, North Carolina, USACoastal North Carolina

The Beaufort Club offers a refined coastal golf experience with a challenging 18-hole layout that combines parkland tranquility and strategic design. Its well-maintained greens, varied terrain, and welcoming clubhouse make it an appealing destination for golfers seeking both beauty and a test of skill.

Course Overview

Located along the tranquil shores of eastern North Carolina, The Beaufort Club offers an 18-hole championship golf experience that balances scenic beauty with strategic challenge. This private, parkland-style course demands thoughtful shot-making across undulating fairways framed by towering pines and salt-touched breezes from nearby waterways. The layout rewards precision with well-placed bunkers and firm, fast greens demanding delicate touch and earnest focus.

Golfers at The Beaufort Club find a course that is engaging yet approachable for a broad range of abilities. Tee boxes accommodate varying skill levels, allowing both spirited amateurs and experienced low handicappers to enjoy a compelling round. The front nine winds through a forested section that tempers the wind, while the back nine opens near open marshlands where coastal gusts test tempo and club selection.

The clubhouse serves as a welcoming hub, featuring amenities that complement the course’s calm, genteel atmosphere. Members benefit from attentive staff and well-maintained facilities that underscore the club’s commitment to quality. Walking is encouraged and enjoyable here, with smooth cart paths and forgiving terrain supporting a relaxed pace without sacrificing the endurance golf provides.

Among the standout features are the signature par-4 12th and the finishing par-5 18th, both of which frame the coastal influence on design with strategic water hazards and carefully shaped greens. The Beaufort Club’s reputation for impeccable greens is supported by meticulous upkeep, delivering surfaces that reward precise putting.

Players planning a visit should prepare for subtle challenges the shifting winds bring, and while club rentals are limited, bringing a personal set enhances the full experience. The combination of serene natural scenery and thoughtful design elevates The Beaufort Club beyond a mere round of golf, making it a destination for those who appreciate a quiet but demanding test of skill in a coastal North Carolina setting.

Course Highlights

The Beaufort Club stands out for its pristine greens and strategic coastal influences. The par-4 12th and par-5 18th holes highlight the design's integration with natural marshland and rolling fairways. Well-placed bunkers and subtle elevation changes demand tactical play throughout the round.

Played at the Beaufort last year in July when visiting my friend in the area. Beautiful course, great layout, challenging but fun. Great staff as well. Why 4 starts? Two reasons. One, a bit pricey honestly. Maybe that's the going rate for NC courses but man wish the fee was $15 cheaper. Two, since I was visiting, I didn't have my clubs and needed to rent a set. They didn't have a good set - the rented clubs (albeit free of charge? if i remember correctly) was a collage lost-never-found clubs. Even my local clubs offer a better rental options. Would I play here again? Yeah...because despite the price I'd come here again if given the opportunity.

Best greens I have ever played on. Not that I am a well traveled golfer but it was much better than most greens I have putted on. Only complaint is the scorecard needs a diagram of each hole layout. Quite helpful for first-time visitors.

I really liked golfing here with my fiancé. We had a really good time. The employees were really friendly and professional. The only reason I didn’t give five stars was because there was a chemical burn all over the greens. Also, one of the members from up north came up to us and started trying to rudely “ teach us etiquette”. We went to several golf courses and lived on one before. This guy was a jerk and I hear that they have a lot of members who are transplants from the northern east part of the country. I am sure it was a one off incident though.
