Terrapin Point Golf Course at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club

Savannah, Georgia, USACoastal Georgia

Terrapin Point Golf Course blends coastal marsh views with a championship 18-hole layout at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, GA. Its strategic design and vibrant wildlife create a compelling test for golfers seeking both challenge and natural beauty along Georgia’s shore.

Course Overview

Set along the marsh-lined shores of Savannah, Georgia, Terrapin Point Golf Course at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for golfers of varying skill levels. This 18-hole championship course unfolds through a coastal layout where salt marshes and tidal creeks shape both the scenery and strategy. Gentle breezes from the nearby water test your shot-making on several holes, demanding a thoughtful approach and steady tempo.

The course’s design weaves natural wetlands and mature pine stands into a layout that balances visual appeal with strategic depth. Fairways are often generous but guarded by well-placed bunkers and waterways that require precision off the tee. Greens roll true and present subtle breaks, encouraging skilled putting without overwhelming intermediate players. While low handicappers will appreciate the challenge posed by longer holes and tricky pin positions, the course remains accessible for keen amateurs eager to improve.

Surrounding the course, abundant wildlife adds to the experience, as egrets, ospreys, and even bald eagles can frequently be spotted, complementing the course’s peaceful marsh views. Seasonally vibrant salt marsh grass borders key holes, each shot feeling connected to this coastal environment. When weather is clear, the soundtrack of shorebirds and gentle water movements replaces typical course noise.

The Landings Golf & Athletic Club extends beyond golf with its clubhouse housing well-appointed facilities. Members can enjoy dining with scenic views after play, as well as locker rooms, a pro shop, and practice areas that prepare players for the challenges to come. Walking is encouraged, offering an immersive way to engage with the terrain, though carts are available for convenience.

Terrapin Point stands as a favorite amid The Landings’ six courses for those seeking a link between coastal beauty and championship-caliber golf. Its blend of natural marshland hazards, wildlife encounters, and demanding shot options invites both contemplation and fresh enthusiasm for the game. Preparation is key, but the rewards are immediate for those who test themselves against this distinctive Georgia course.

Palmetto was wet, greens were slow and Barb R., Suzanne, and I missed 4-5 short putts each that slipped over the edge, went in and out of the cup, or hit the flag and shot off of it. All resulting in no birdies! Suzanne had the latter happen that otherwise would have been a hole in one! Arghhh! Still fun day, great company! I kind of like this retirement life! Normally, I would rate this course as a 5, but the conditions of the course after 6 inches of rain in 3 days made it a little sloppy and slow. There were also places on the fairway that carts had gone and left muddy tracks and muddy balls and casual water. That was unusual for the course as well.

These 2 courses are absolutely gorgeous with several coastal holes! The views are stunning and there are numerous bald eagles, ospreys, deer, foxes and all sorts of other wildlife. The other 4 courses are pretty great as well but these 2 are by far my favorite. Palmetto hole #13 has Phillip Delegals gravesite at the end just passed the green.

Great course but be prepared to have a tough go of things unless you are a top level golfer.

These courses are well maintained. The views on some holes are as good as it gets. Greens roll true. I think most holes are pretty forgiving. Pace of play is 4 hours or under in my experience. The dude who gave these courses 1 star is ridiculous. They are private and the courses do look similiar, but what's terrible about well maintained golf courses with great views? Nothing. My favorite course in the landings is Deer Creek. It's has the toughest greens, but it's a beauty!
