Savannah, Georgia, USACoastal Georgia

Southbridge Savannah Golf Club is an 18-hole public course featuring rolling terrain and strategic bunkering that shape a challenging yet accessible layout. Despite some maintenance concerns, its natural elevation changes and shaded fairways offer an engaging play experience for golfers of varied skill levels.

Course Overview

Southbridge Savannah Golf Club offers an 18-hole public golf experience set against gently rolling terrain in Savannah, Georgia. Designed to challenge golfers with varied elevation changes and strategic bunkering, this course presents an intriguing layout with wide fairways that invite players of different skill levels to test their game. The landscape is marked by natural hills that introduce uneven lies and subtle undulations, encouraging thoughtful shot selection and precision.

The course’s fairways, while generous in width, contain subtle hazards that demand placement accuracy, particularly around well-positioned bunkers guarding many greens. Elevation changes require adjustments in club choice and stance, amplifying the difficulty despite its approachable length. Walking the layout reveals shaded stretches that provide relief from southern sun, with the occasional water hazard adding visual interest and strategic complexity.

While Southbridge Savannah offers a scenic route with a variety of holes, visitors should be aware that course conditions can vary, particularly regarding green surfaces and fairway consistency. Maintenance challenges, especially on putting greens, have been noted, highlighting the importance of managing expectations around playability. The club features a driving range and short game area near the clubhouse, helping golfers prepare before teeing off or fine-tune their skills post-round.

Offering affordable green fees, Southbridge Savannah caters mostly to casual players and locals seeking a welcoming venue with a compelling layout. Its setting amidst Savannah’s warm climate lends itself to year-round play, though spring and fall often provide the most comfortable conditions. Golfers considering a visit should prepare for uneven lies and variable turf conditions, and bring appropriate footwear for walking the course’s rolling terrain.

For those seeking a challenging but accessible round that blends natural features with strategic golf, Southbridge Savannah Golf Club provides an opportunity to engage with a course that tests both creativity and patience. While maintenance issues may detract from the overall experience, the fundamental design and varied holes remain points of interest for a diverse range of players.

Course Highlights

I booked 18 holes ,but only played 12. The customer service was good enough, but the course itself was unpleasant, and I didn't want to finish the back 9. The greens are very patchy and barely had any grass on them. As you putt, you can see the ball bouncing side to side and up and down. It's nearly impossible to read the green because it was so dark. You can barely distinguish between where the fringe area is supposed to be and the green. Some regular golfers told me that the greens weren't taken care of, and I'd have to agree. The fairways and tee boxes were in better condition but were very dry and had a lot of sand and dirt everywhere. The course is massive, and there's some distance in between each hole as the cart path winds throughout the houses. There is quite a bit of shade as you make your way through the course, and there was a water cooler and cups for golfers to have on 12. They do have a range and putting/chipping area by the clubhouse, and their bucket of balls (one size) only costs $7.50.

Excited to play this course with my family. At $70 for 18 and this is the best green on the course. What a poor value and major disappointment.U

Called for a tee time and when booked didnt mention the greens are aerated after I already drove 25 min there. Didnt mention the sahara desert on each one of them. And at 50 dollars for the greens fee is absolute trash and robbery. Also got ran off by some scramblers as i was teeing up the first hole and had to start at 10. If this place gave me a free 18 id still pass on it.

Absolutely Terrible Experience – Never Again I’ve played on many courses, but the putting green here was by far the worst I’ve ever seen. It was in horrendous condition – uneven, patchy, and completely neglected. It felt more like putting on a bumpy dirt path than a golf green. I don't know if they just stopped maintaining it or if they don't care, but it ruined the entire round. It’s honestly shocking that they charge players full price with greens like this. Completely unacceptable for any course, let alone one that pretends to be professional. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will absolutely never come back. Avoid it unless you want to waste your time and money.

Extremely disappointed. Absolutely brutal condition. Fairways and greens have some form of an infestation of weeds. It is nearly impossible to putt- the ball bounced all over the place. Fairways may as well been dirt. The carts would beep if in “off limits” area- but no screen in the cart. As some other people mentioned- the course layout was awesome. Lots of hills creating under and above feet lies- truly a penalty to be on a hillside. Fairway bunkers are very strategically place for errant shots right or left. I paid $64 and change to play. I almost went to the clubhouse and asked for a refund after the front. If you want to play a course in MUCH MUCH better shape in the Savannah area for the EXACT same greens fees- play Crosswinds. We will not be back to Southbridge. And please- the bot that responds reviews- save the “We’re sorry we didn’t live up to your expectations…” because you do not work hard to improve the condition. I suggest selling it to someone who can afford to maintain it. It could be a great course- but it is far from that now.

LISTEN TO THESE OTHER REVIEWS. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought it was just picky people leaving reviews. That’s not the case this course is in BAD SHAPE. It’s not even worth a dollar a hole as it’s impossible to finish a hole. The greens are the furthest thing from “green” you could be 3 feet away on most holes and still not have a good patch of grass to putt on. Something needs to be done quickly to save this course. it would be nice to let customers know it’s in bad shape before they pay to come here without reading reviews.

The greens are currently being renovated, so they are not in perfect condition. However, the fairways are in good condition.
