Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort presents an engaging desert-style 18-hole course in Palm Springs. With smooth greens and rugged fairways shaped by desert winds, it offers an accessible yet strategic round for mid-to-high handicappers amid scenic, sun-drenched terrain.
Course Overview
Situated in the heart of Palm Springs, California, Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort offers a compelling golf experience amid the striking desert landscape. This resort course features 18 holes that blend traditional course design with the rugged charm of a desert-style layout. Fairways weave through arid terrain punctuated by native vegetation and rocky outcroppings, challenging players to think carefully about their shot placement and club selection.
The course’s playability caters especially well to mid-to-high handicappers seeking a fair yet engaging round. The absence of water hazards places greater emphasis on strategic positioning and controlling ball flight against the desert winds that sweep across the fairways. Greens roll smoothly but present subtle breaks, rewarding focused approach shots and precise putting.
Maintenance largely supports an enjoyable round. Tee boxes and fairways are kept in good condition, with lush greens that encourage confident putting strokes. While the fairway bunkers lean toward a more natural, sandy state, some have been noted to contain less sand and include pockets of mud, particularly after seasonal moisture. The practice facilities complement the course with well-maintained areas for putting and chipping practice, ideal for warming up or fine-tuning short game skills.
Off the course, golfers will find the clubhouse welcoming, with a dining area offering hearty meals and refreshing beverages to recharge after play. The service exudes friendly professionalism, underscoring a relaxed yet attentive atmosphere that fits the resort’s laid-back desert vibe. Golf carts are well-kept and equipped with coolers to beat the desert heat, and walking remains an option for players looking to experience the terrain more intimately.
Tahquitz Creek stands out as a dependable resort destination that balances accessibility with desert character. It embraces the natural terrain without compromising playability, making it a rewarding choice for visitors wanting to enjoy Palm Springs golf with practical amenities and a warm, inviting feel.
Course Highlights
Notable for its desert-style layout, the course offers a straightforward routing with long, open fairways that reward distance and accuracy. Native desert vegetation frames each hole while subtle green contours and occasional bunkering add challenge without penalizing less-experienced players. The absence of water hazards shifts focus to placement and managing desert winds that influence ball trajectory.

Played the RESORT course on 23 Jan 2025. I honestly was expecting a bit better on the amenities of the course. The range is hard to warm up with because it barely has any grass on it. However, they do have nice areas for putting and chipping practice. The course is maintained for the most part. Tee boxes are shaped and cut well, fairways nice and green, the greens roll well but are slick. It is hard to stop the ball which makes it a lot more challenging to be accurate. The only course maintenance that I was not satisfied with are the fairway bunkers. They are not that well maintained as the green side bunkers. A lot of mud a barely any sand in them. The layout and scenery of the course is pretty cool. I must add that this course does offer money back for military if you show your ID when you check in so I thank them for that. The course is in pretty good shape and I could see myself coming back here to play.

If you’re wanting to have a great golf experience in Palm Springs, this is the spot. I’m an amateur enthusiast, not too serious but I had a great time at this course. The line to each hole was easy to follow, the golf carts were great and descent quality with an ice chest. The grass and overall upkeep was top notch along with the food and drink cart being great. A few bathroom break areas and it didn’t feel rushed at all and most waves before and after us were real cool, relaxed. I’d definitely come back here again for another round!

We played on 1/4 and enjoyed the first 9 holes but unfortunately for us, had a pretty terrible time from hole 10 onwards as there was a group of 4 behind us being rude: yelling for us to hurry up multiple times and hitting their balls up to where we were on the fairway without apologizing or just backing off after the first time. My partner and I joined another twosome in front of us and they informed us that the group behind us were all individuals who worked at the course, and that is enough information to not return here. It’s a shame because it’s a breathtaking beautiful course but if they are employing rude individuals to intimidate paying customers, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Friendly albeit gruff pro shop staffer(s). Cart attendant was very Helpful. He give us the lay of the land as there are two courses here. The resort course looks beautiful. A very straightforward course with straight distance being the key. Hitting long here is very rewarding. No water on the course but bottle deal from the clubhouse and ice in the cooler was helpful. Plan on coming back. Added 5 star. Came back and impressed with the restaurant. Hearty wraps, good salads and large drinks. Service is professional and very friendly. Place is clean and has tvs.
