Crowfield Golf Club

Goose Creek, South Carolina, USACharleston Area

Crowfield Golf Club in Goose Creek, South Carolina, is an 18-hole championship course known for its demanding layout and well-kept small greens. With a challenging slope rating and strategic design, it offers a rewarding experience for precision-oriented golfers looking to test their game in a natural Carolina setting.

Course Overview

Crowfield Golf Club, located in Goose Creek, South Carolina, presents a genuine test of golf nestled within a quietly competitive landscape. This 18-hole championship layout demands precision and foresight, particularly from the blue tees where the slope rating of 143 signals a challenge tailored for skilled golfers. The course’s design emphasizes accuracy over distance, featuring small, well-maintained greens with subtle undulations that require a deft touch on approach and putts alike. Each hole weaves its way through gently rolling terrain framed by mature trees and natural marshlands, offering moments of serene focus amid strategic complexity.

The playability of Crowfield caters primarily to low to mid-handicappers who enjoy a tactical round where every shot counts. While it rewards precision, thoughtful players at all skill levels can find enjoyment by selecting appropriate tees and appreciating the course’s thoughtful routing. The fairways are typically generous but guard against errant shots with well-positioned bunkers and penal rough. The layout is not a straightforward walk in the park; it challenges club selection and shot shaping, especially when the coastal breezes begin to influence ball flight.

Crowfield’s recent upgrades extend beyond the fairways, with a modernized pro shop and a recently added outdoor bar area that enhances the social atmosphere post-round. While the course is recognized for its solid conditioning and inviting facilities, prospective visitors should note the etiquette and operational policies, including the requirement of rental clubs when not playing and careful attention to guest access.

For those planning to walk, the terrain presents manageable elevation changes, but sturdy, supportive footwear is recommended to maintain comfort throughout the round. The setting reflects Carolina golf traditions, where natural features are integral to the experience, and the atmosphere encourages both competitive play and relaxed enjoyment.

Crowfield Golf Club combines a competitive spirit with Southern charm, making it a noteworthy destination for players seeking a disciplined golf round near Charleston. Expect a course that challenges shotmaking and rewards thoughtful execution, inviting golfers to sharpen their skills while soaking in a quietly compelling landscape.

Course Highlights

The course is distinguished by its small, undulated greens that demand precise approach shots, coupled with bunkers that strategically frame many landing areas. Its routing thoughtfully integrates native marsh areas and mature woodland, providing both visual appeal and tactical challenges. Recent facility upgrades include a renovated pro shop and a new outdoor bar, enhancing the clubhouse experience without altering the course's competitive integrity.

The most underrated course in the Charleston Vacinity. They have made many upgrades over the years. Course layout is fun, course is always in good shape. They offer discounted rates when they punch the greens and seem to always take care of thr customer. I am moving back to New England shortly and will sincerely miss this course. If you are visiting Charleston, it is a must play!

Went with a bachelor party. I don't play golf but would like to get into it some day. I went with my group who had an extra seat on a cart and I was going to tag along and pay the cart fee. I was told that if I wanted to go on the course, I’d have to pay for 18 holes AND would be forced to rent their clubs even though I wasn’t going to play. I declined. Later while waiting on the rest of our group to arrive I was sitting on a cart at the driving range while the others were hitting on the driving range. An employee approached us and said one of us had not paid and needed to leave the area. I understand having rules but for as someone interested in getting into the sport it left a bad taste in my mouth. The course appeared to be nice though.

We just played the course which was in good shape and a good experience. However, we wanted to eat at the restaurant after we played but wanted to wash our hands first. The restrooms are inside as part of tbe restaurant. There was no soap. We decided to not eat lunch because if we couldn't wash our hands how do the people working in restaurant wash theirs? YIKES!

Not sure what all the negative reviews for the staff are about. Played there over the weekend for the first time. I had a great experience. The staff is friendly, accommodating and polite. The Starter was informative and punctual. Didn't see a Ranger all day as we managed to play five minutes ahead of pace as a foursome. The course is in fantastic shape. The rough is exactly that, rough. Pay close attention to where your ball is going as the grass will stand up around it and make it difficult to find. The greens are a lot of fun. They are fairly quick and undulated. The speed of the practice green is exactly the same as the greens on the course. For what they charge for greens fees I'll definitely return to play often. Thanks Crowfield for a fun afternoon.

This is one of the most challenging courses in the Tri-County w/ a slope rating of 143 (Blue tees) the course requires you to be precise or you’ll be punished. The greens are small but are well maintained, the undulation on most greens presents another level complexity. If you’re looking for a challenge Crowfield will give you all you can ask for. The brand new outside bar area was nice, as well as the pro shop which was recently renovated.

Just finished a round and the conditions were very good. Very nice facility. Wanted to have lunch afterwards but after using the bathroom (for the Restaurant) and not having any soap (even after asking), it made me think, if there is no soap for me to wash my hands, what about the restaurant workers? Yikes….
