Course Overview

Saddle Ridge Golf Course offers an inviting, 18-hole layout that blends accessibility with subtle challenge just outside Portage, Wisconsin. As a public course, it welcomes golfers of all skill levels seeking a welcoming atmosphere paired with a straightforward but engaging test of golf. The course features a parkland style, with rolling fairways that weave through open terrain accented by tree-lined edges and natural Wisconsin landscapes. Players appreciate the course’s approachable design, making it well suited for beginners and mid-handicappers without sacrificing interest for more experienced players. The fairways provide generous landing areas but narrow strategically near the putting surfaces, where several bunkers guard the pin placements. This balance draws from traditional parkland principles, focusing on shot placement and rhythm rather than length alone.

Saddle Ridge enhances the golf experience beyond the course. Live music events, especially featuring groups like the Country Renegades, create a social space reflecting the welcoming Midwestern spirit. Staff members contribute to the friendly atmosphere, offering helpful service that fosters a sense of community.

For visitors planning their day, riding is widely available but walking is entirely feasible on the gently rolling terrain, with clean clubhouse facilities supporting comfort before and after play. Spring and early fall present particularly favorable conditions, combining mild weather and the course’s best turf presentation. Golf course was in decent shape for early fall, greens rolled really nice, but they have a lot of undulation. They clubhouse had a Bloody Mary bar that was awesome! I bought the round on Group Golfer App and it was well worth the money I paid! Play the Rippers too!

In the area checking out the airport and buying from buy trade south. Decided to play a round of golf but only squeezed in a 9. Spring rates were reasonable with a cart. Found an awesome lob wedge for five bucks Right away at the clubhouse. Bathroom for clean and bar was updated. Everyone was very nice as they let us play though. Since it was just me and my fiance riding along. Awesome Wisconsin Dells experience.
