The Glen Golf Park

Madison, Wisconsin, USACentral Wisconsin

The Glen Golf Park in Madison delivers an enjoyable 18-hole par-32 experience marked by carefully renovated greens, strategic bunkering, and approachable challenges. Ideal for golfers of all skill levels seeking quick, engaging rounds in a city-park setting.

Course Overview

Located in Madison, Wisconsin, The Glen Golf Park offers an engaging and approachable golfing experience distinguished by its thoughtfully renovated layout and versatile playing options. This public 18-hole course provides a par-32 track that challenges players with its undulating greens, strategic bunkering, and subtle elevation changes that keep each hole fresh and rewarding. With a total yardage tailored for quick yet satisfying rounds, The Glen strikes a balance appealing to beginners who seek an enjoyable introduction and experienced golfers who appreciate course management and shot-making nuance.

The course design blends classic parkland traits with modern elements introduced through recent improvements overseen by the Kaiser brothers, known for their work at Sand Valley. These renovations punched open the fairways slightly and refined the green complexes, encouraging a more dynamic style of play while maintaining accessibility. The large, rolling greens demand careful approach shots and thoughtful putting, making precision a key element without overwhelming slower players.

Set within an urban park environment, The Glen opens onto natural contours and scenic native vegetation, creating a pleasant visual backdrop that enhances the sense of escape without leaving the city. The course's layout supports brisk pace of play, with many golfers completing their rounds in under two hours, lending itself well to weekday mornings or quick after-work rounds.

The Glen also features a well-regarded practice area with a putting course that tests short-game skills in a fun, low-pressure setting. Walking is not only allowed but encouraged, and comfortable footwear is recommended given the slight grade changes throughout the course.

For those planning a visit to Madison, The Glen Golf Park serves as an accessible and well-maintained option that honors both the spirit of traditional golf and the modern golfer’s need for efficient, enjoyable rounds. Its approachable length and engaging holes make it an ideal choice for families, newcomers, and eager golfers looking to test their game in a welcoming atmosphere.

Great new overhaul by the Kaiser brothers of Sand Valley fame. A short, fun par 32 with excellent bunkering and large, undulating greens. The greens need a year or so to mature and quicken up but otherwise the new design is fantastic and it’s a great value. Will be back many more times.

Visited town and this was a truly delightful round of golf. The course design (undulating greens, open fairways) makes it interesting for more experienced players while also very playable for beginners. You're gonna have fun while also rarely losing a golf ball. Course conditions were also great. Pace of play was good for a holiday morning, got around in 1:40. Although I can't speak to other courses in the city, this place is a gem and I wish each city in the US had a course like this.

As someone who’s been golfing for barely a year, I love it here! The courses aren’t too long, and games can go super fast! Just gotta be careful on the first hole you don’t shank it right into a car! I may never beat the guys in 9 holes, but I’ll be going with them every game!

Fun little track to get your golf fix. Holes are all unique and challenging. Nice elevation changes and fairways and greens in great shape on a weekday July morning. Perfect for getting a quick round in before work. **Update: new renovations open up the course a little bit and bring an update vibe to the park. Putting course is neat and a good challenge. Love the new green complexes...overall a worthy improvement.**
