Montague Golf Club

Randolph, Vermont, USACentral Vermont

Montague Golf Club in Randolph, Vermont offers an 18-hole public course that blends tree-lined parkland and windswept links-style terrain. Well-maintained greens and a recent dining upgrade round out the experience, providing challenges for all skill levels amid a welcoming atmosphere.

Course Overview

Montague Golf Club presents an engaging 18-hole layout that blends approachable play with moments that challenge the more experienced golfer. Situated in Randolph, Vermont, this public course offers an inviting mix of parkland charm and links-style character, especially on its back nine where the terrain and exposure shift dramatically, evoking the feel of a classic Scottish coursescape. The front nine winds through lush, tree-lined fairways, encouraging strategic shot-making amid well-placed bunkers and subtly contoured greens. As you progress, the course opens up to undulating ground and wind-swept expanses, where the scenery stretches wide and the game demands adaptability and control.

A key feature at Montague is the meticulous condition of the turf and greens, a fact noted repeatedly by visitors who praise the consistent speed and true roll underfoot. The maintenance team’s dedication ensures that the course remains vibrant from early spring through late fall, making it a reliable choice for golfers seeking both enjoyment and test. Alongside golf, the club recently enhanced its dining experience with a kitchen led by a new chef whose inventive menu has become a regional highlight, offering an ideal spot to refuel post-round.

The course suits a broad range of players. While the layout rewards precision, wide fairways on multiple holes make it accessible to higher handicaps, and several doglegs and wind-affected holes provide interest and challenge for those sharpening their skills. Players appreciate the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff who foster an inclusive vibe.

Walking the course is encouraged, and golfers will find the terrain manageable, with some gentle hills that keep the experience engaging without undue strain. Sturdy shoes are recommended for the varied surfaces encountered along the property. Visitors will find ample parking and a well-appointed clubhouse that anchors this stretch of Vermont golf.

Montague Golf Club’s combination of thoughtful design, quality conditioning, and culinary refreshment elevates it beyond a simple community course into a destination worth exploring for anyone traveling through central Vermont.

Course Highlights

Montague Golf Club is distinguished by its front nine parkland holes featuring tree-lined fairways and strategic bunkering, followed by a back nine that shifts to a links-style layout with open terrain and wind challenges. Recently improved dining amenities and consistent course conditions have made it a favored spot for locals and visitors alike.

My husband and 9 yo went to go play 9 holes. The new owners have hit a home run! This has always been a great course, but their experience was better than ever!

A bit hidden but, once you play it you'll be hooked. Course is always it wonderful shape.... No... Outstanding shape. Front 9 is challenging but fair and fun. Back nine you would think you all of a sudden are in Scotland on a typical link's course. The course is never boring. What can I say. Great course and a lot of fun and great people and staff. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
