Soldier Hollow Golf Course

Midway, Utah, USACentral Utah

Soldier Hollow Golf Course features two distinct 18-hole championship courses set against the dramatic Wasatch Mountains. Offering a blend of strategic challenges and accessible play, these public layouts combine scenic ruggedness with meticulously maintained fairways and fast greens for an immersive Utah golfing experience.

Course Overview

Situated within Utah's scenic Heber Valley, Soldier Hollow Golf Course offers two outstanding 18-hole layouts—the Gold and Silver courses—that showcase the rugged beauty of the Wasatch Mountains. These public championship venues provide diverse challenges while rewarding players with sweeping views and thoughtful design that respects the natural terrain.

The Gold Course serves as the more demanding option, stretching over 7,200 yards from the back tees and requiring precise shot placement amid strategic bunkers and natural hazards. Its elevation changes and undulating fairways push even seasoned players to carefully manage club selection and course strategy. Conversely, the Silver Course offers a slightly shorter but no less engaging round, with an emphasis on accessibility without sacrificing test of accuracy and control. Both courses feature wide fairways framed by native vegetation and firm, fast greens designed to hold well-placed approach shots.

Grass surfaces on fairways and greens are consistently well-maintained, providing true rolls and reliable footing, though players should come prepared for firm conditions and occasional wind that can influence ball flight. The open layout fosters an airy atmosphere where the only distractions come from the natural sounds of the valley and the crunch of your cleats on turf.

Soldier Hollow’s practice facilities complement the on-course experience, including a comprehensive driving range, dedicated putting greens, and short game areas to hone precision. The clubhouse is equipped with a staffed pro shop offering equipment rentals and expert advice, while the friendly staff keep pace-of-play smooth and welcoming for all golfers.

Walking the grounds is encouraged, with thoughtfully placed cart paths and relatively gentle elevation gain, but sturdy walking shoes are recommended given the variable terrain. Whether you are a low handicap seeking exacting challenges or a mid-level player looking for scenic enjoyment with strategic variety, Soldier Hollow delivers an engaging golf day framed by breathtaking mountain vistas.

With its combination of rewarding layouts, excellent conditioning, and striking setting in Central Utah, Soldier Hollow Golf Course stands as a compelling destination for golfers seeking a memorable round amid nature’s raw beauty.

Course Highlights

Soldier Hollow is distinguished by its two contrasting courses: the longer, more tactical Gold Course and the approachable yet strategically engaging Silver Course. Both courses take full advantage of the natural elevation changes and panoramic mountain views. Greens are known for their fast speeds and subtle breaks, demanding precise putting. The open layout exposes players to variable winds, which adds a natural test of shot control. The courses are seamlessly integrated into the Heber Valley landscape, framed by native grasses and wildflowers, creating a playing environment that balances challenge with serene natural beauty.

We played the Silver course as a threesome before Memorial Day. It’s an amazing course with almost no trees, which leaves you with a shot at the hole almost every time. I say almost because there were some spots that seemed to be trying to imitate rough at Bethpage Black. Pros: fairways were tip top shape, greens were firm yet receptive to shots from any distance, never had a problem with pace of play (we were the only ones on the course for the last 5 holes). Con(s): the only flaw or problem we had with our experience was the fact that it didn’t seem like anyone fixed their divots. As good as the course looked and as great as everything was fixing divots could take this course to the next level. Lots of dead spots from unprepared divots.

Beautiful views. Incredibly challenging greens. Price was increased on a holiday, and the every 9 minute t-times packed in so many golfers that our round took 5 hours with waiting on every hole, and the group behind us breathing down our necks to be our live audience on every t-box. The fairways were SOAKED to the point of puddling and very muddy shots from the middle of the fairway.. we played early on the 4th of July, so maybe it rained super hard for several hours the night before?? (We didn’t see any rain in the forecast, so maybe just sprinkler schedules.

Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah, is a gem nestled in the picturesque Heber Valley, offering two distinct 18-hole courses that cater to golfers of all skill levels. My recent visit to Soldier Hollow was a fantastic experience, combining challenging play with breathtaking mountain scenery. The courses, known as the Gold and the Silver, each provide a unique golfing experience. The Gold Course is the more challenging of the two, with its longer layout and strategically placed hazards requiring precise shot-making and strategic thinking. The Silver Course, while slightly shorter, is no less enjoyable, offering a more forgiving layout but still demanding accurate play. Both courses are meticulously maintained, with lush fairways and smooth, fast greens that offer true rolls. The natural terrain and elevation changes add to the challenge and beauty of the courses, making every round an adventure. The backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains provides stunning views that enhance the overall experience, especially in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is particularly striking. The facilities at Soldier Hollow are top-notch, with a well-equipped pro shop and excellent practice areas, including a driving range, putting greens, and chipping areas. The staff is friendly and professional, ensuring that every aspect of your visit is enjoyable. What sets Soldier Hollow apart is its connection to nature and the serene, tranquil atmosphere. The courses are integrated seamlessly into the landscape, providing a sense of peace and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In summary, Soldier Hollow Golf Course is a must-visit for any golf enthusiast. Whether you’re looking for a challenging round or a relaxing day surrounded by nature, Soldier Hollow delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend experiencing these beautiful courses for yourself.

I’ve now been out here on three separate occasions and I can’t imagine coming back again and NOT golfing here. One of my favorite courses of all time and definitely the best public option in the Park City/Heber Valley area. Both the Gold and Silver courses are great. Silver is the longest one stretching into the 7,300+ yards from the tips. The views are spectacular, the course is challenging, it’s maintained excellently, and overall just an amazing place to play golf at. This course and area is worth the drive from Salt Lake or Park City.

Both courses are delightfully challenging and overall in very good shape. Nestled in the foothills, the greens are deceptive yet fair. Reaching the green is a wonderful challenge from the tips, and the design creates more forgiveness from the other tee boxes, providing a hard test no matter your skill level. Even in a cart, the elevation changes and undulations will tire you out, especially on the Gold Course. Don't be scared of the challenge, but this is not your casual course so wait until you want to test your skills before coming!
