Soldier Hollow Golf Course

Midway, Utah, USACentral Utah

Soldier Hollow Golf Course offers two premier 18-hole layouts in Utah’s Heber Valley, combining sweeping mountain views with thoughtfully crafted challenges. Both the Gold and Silver courses blend rolling terrain and strategic design, making each round an engaging test for golfers of all levels.

Course Overview

Soldier Hollow Golf Course, situated in Midway, Utah’s scenic Heber Valley, offers two thoughtfully designed 18-hole courses that appeal to golfers across the skill spectrum. The Gold and Silver courses leverage the natural contours of the Wasatch Mountains, creating memorable rounds filled with elevation changes and panoramic mountain views that shift with the time of day.

The Silver Course, stretching over 7,300 yards from the championship tees, challenges with its wide-open fairways and subtle hazards. Without dense tree lines to confine play, it presents ample opportunities while demanding precision and strategic shot-making. Fairways are meticulously maintained, though uneven terrain and natural grasses occasionally mimic the rough found at some of the game’s toughest venues. The greens are consistently smooth yet fast, rewarding well-judged approach shots and testing putting strokes with gentle undulations.

Complementing the Silver layout, the Gold Course is designed for those seeking a deeper challenge. Its longer holes and strategically placed hazards require a blend of distance and finesse, demanding thoughtful club selection and shot execution. Both courses ensure a well-rounded experience through a combination of natural terrain and skilled landscape shaping, emphasizing strategic play over pure power.

Facilities at Soldier Hollow support every stage of preparation and play. The pro shop offers a modern retail experience, while driving ranges, putting greens, and chipping areas provide ample opportunity to hone skills before teeing off. The staff is known for professionalism and approachability, fostering an inviting atmosphere throughout the property.

Walking the course is enjoyable and encouraged, but the undulating landscape advises using supportive footwear and pacing yourself during warmer months. Early morning rounds deliver cooler temperatures and vibrant light that enhance the dramatic scenery.

Soldier Hollow melds the quiet intensity of mountain golf with accessibility for diverse players. Its blend of clean fairways, fast greens, and sweeping vistas crafts an experience that unfolds with each hole and demands focus, endurance, and appreciation of a distinct alpine golf setting.

Course Highlights

Two distinct 18-hole layouts - the longer, challenging Silver Course and the strategically demanding Gold Course. Both feature fast, true greens, expansive fairways with minimal trees, and sweeping views of the Wasatch Mountains. The Silver Course’s wide-open design contrasts with the Gold’s pronounced hazards and elevation shifts, providing variety and strategic depth.

Beautiful views. Incredibly challenging greens. Price was increased on a holiday, and the every 9 minute t-times packed in so many golfers that our round took 5 hours with waiting on every hole, and the group behind us breathing down our necks to be our live audience on every t-box. The fairways were SOAKED to the point of puddling and very muddy shots from the middle of the fairway.. we played early on the 4th of July, so maybe it rained super hard for several hours the night before?? (We didn’t see any rain in the forecast, so maybe just sprinkler schedules.

Both courses are delightfully challenging and overall in very good shape. Nestled in the foothills, the greens are deceptive yet fair. Reaching the green is a wonderful challenge from the tips, and the design creates more forgiveness from the other tee boxes, providing a hard test no matter your skill level. Even in a cart, the elevation changes and undulations will tire you out, especially on the Gold Course. Don't be scared of the challenge, but this is not your casual course so wait until you want to test your skills before coming!

We played the Silver course as a threesome before Memorial Day. It’s an amazing course with almost no trees, which leaves you with a shot at the hole almost every time. I say almost because there were some spots that seemed to be trying to imitate rough at Bethpage Black. Pros: fairways were tip top shape, greens were firm yet receptive to shots from any distance, never had a problem with pace of play (we were the only ones on the course for the last 5 holes). Con(s): the only flaw or problem we had with our experience was the fact that it didn’t seem like anyone fixed their divots. As good as the course looked and as great as everything was fixing divots could take this course to the next level. Lots of dead spots from unprepared divots.

Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah, is a gem nestled in the picturesque Heber Valley, offering two distinct 18-hole courses that cater to golfers of all skill levels. My recent visit to Soldier Hollow was a fantastic experience, combining challenging play with breathtaking mountain scenery. The courses, known as the Gold and the Silver, each provide a unique golfing experience. The Gold Course is the more challenging of the two, with its longer layout and strategically placed hazards requiring precise shot-making and strategic thinking. The Silver Course, while slightly shorter, is no less enjoyable, offering a more forgiving layout but still demanding accurate play. Both courses are meticulously maintained, with lush fairways and smooth, fast greens that offer true rolls. The natural terrain and elevation changes add to the challenge and beauty of the courses, making every round an adventure. The backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains provides stunning views that enhance the overall experience, especially in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is particularly striking. The facilities at Soldier Hollow are top-notch, with a well-equipped pro shop and excellent practice areas, including a driving range, putting greens, and chipping areas. The staff is friendly and professional, ensuring that every aspect of your visit is enjoyable. What sets Soldier Hollow apart is its connection to nature and the serene, tranquil atmosphere. In summary, Soldier Hollow Golf Course is a must-visit for any golf enthusiast. Whether you’re looking for a challenging round or a relaxing day surrounded by nature, Soldier Hollow delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend experiencing these beautiful courses for yourself.

I’ve now been out here on three separate occasions and I can’t imagine coming back again and NOT golfing here. One of my favorite courses of all time and definitely the best public option in the Park City/Heber Valley area. Both the Gold and Silver courses are great. Silver is the longest one stretching into the 7,300+ yards from the tips. The views are spectacular, the course is challenging, it’s maintained excellently, and overall just an amazing place to play golf at. This course and area is worth the drive from Salt Lake or Park City.
