VinnyLinks Golf Course

Nashville, Tennessee, USACentral Tennessee

VinnyLinks Golf Course in Nashville offers a compact 9-hole par-3 layout perfect for short-game practice and casual play. Its river-adjacent setting and approachable design make it an accessible destination for golfers seeking focused iron shots and putter work in a relaxed atmosphere.

Course Overview

VinnyLinks Golf Course offers a refreshing and approachable golf experience in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee. This public facility is a compact 9-hole par-3 layout, designed primarily for honing short-game skills rather than championship play. Rolling gently along the banks of the Cumberland River, the course provides an intimate setting that encourages repetition and precision in iron play and putting.

The course’s relatively modest length makes it accessible to golfers of all skill levels, from novices refining their basics to seasoned players sharpening their wedge and putting techniques. While not a traditional full-length course, VinnyLinks is an ideal spot to concentrate on the short shots that can shave strokes off any round. The greens offer a varied range of pin positions, demanding careful approach shots and a steady touch.

A notable feature of VinnyLinks is its riverside location, which adds a subtle layer of challenge with occasional breezes that test a golfer’s tempo and trajectory control. The landscape reflects a simple, no-frills design that prioritizes playability and practice over extravagance. The nearby General Jackson riverboat occasionally hums in the background, blending an urban charm with the peaceful mood of the course.

Though the driving range is limited to mats and marked by a hill serving as a backstop, it provides an affordable and convenient place to work on swing fundamentals. Visitors appreciate the friendly atmosphere and relaxed pace, making it a popular spot for midweek practice sessions or casual rounds with family.

Golfers should note that greens can be uneven at times, so patience and focus will reward steady play. With buckets of balls offered at a budget-friendly price and a compact routing conducive to walking without strain, VinnyLinks suits players looking for productive short-game work amid an inviting environment. Whether you aim to sharpen your wedges or enjoy a quick round near downtown Nashville, VinnyLinks delivers a straightforward, no-pressure golfing outing that fits easily into a busy schedule.

Course Highlights

VinnyLinks stands out as an accessible urban par-3 course with a peaceful riverside backdrop. The layout encourages repeated short-shot practice amidst subtle natural challenges presented by local wind and varied green contours. Its proximity to downtown Nashville and the scenic views of the Cumberland River’s edge create a distinctive setting unlike sprawling resort courses. While the driving range is limited to mats, the affordable and friendly environment provides a valuable practice destination for local and visiting golfers.

(My review is of the driving range only.) There are approximately 10 mats to hit from; no hitting from grass. Tall rubber tees are installed and a note to not "hit more than 250 yards. Nothing special as far as looks as you're just hitting balls towards a hill of grass and dirt, but at $6 for a bucket of balls it's a convenient place to get some swing practice in when in the area.

Greens are horrible year round. It was hard to justify spending $12 on a round and they just raised the price to $16. Fun if you’re drunk. GO TO MCCABE! LOL

This is not a championship course, but gets 4.5 stars as a great rolling par 3 course to dial in your short game. If I lived in Nashville I’d practice here mid week every week after work. Driving range looked like a really bad setup, so wouldn’t use it for that. But if you want to play your irons, wedges, and putter better, this would be a great place to sharpen the edge regularly. Other than the sound of the loud engines of the General Jackson or some other large paddle boat anchored in the river nearby, it was a very peaceful place to play. I even saw a group of does come out on one of the holes, munching in the fringe. Super friendly staff too!

Tough to justify $12 when you can walk 9 at two rivers for $13 on a weekday. The condition is honestly usually rough, and the greens fluffy. Also, although the holes have different distances, due to elevation they almost all play around 100 yards, so in terms of short game practice there's no variation off the tee. The practice green and range are nice amenity close to downtown. $6 and you can get some swing practice in and then putt a while. The problem is they close at 5, so after work range is a no-go. They should stay open later.
