Lake Padden Golf Course

Bellingham, Washington, USACentral Puget Sound

Lake Padden Golf Course in Bellingham presents an 18-hole parkland layout that blends approachable play with scenic views along a lakeside setting. Its varied holes and steady breeze provide a stimulating challenge suitable for golfers at all levels.

Course Overview

Lake Padden Golf Course offers an 18-hole public layout that balances natural beauty with varied playability. Located along the western edge of Bellingham, Washington, the course presents a parkland style intertwined with gentle elevation changes and generous tree lines that frame the fairways. Its setting alongside Lake Padden injects a subtle coastal charm, where shifts in the breeze can influence shot selection and add a layer of strategic thinking to each hole.

This course caters broadly to golfers of all skill levels. Its well-maintained fairways and smooth greens deliver an accessible challenge for beginners while still providing enough nuance in contour and hazard placement to satisfy more experienced players. While the overall terrain is moderately forgiving, the course’s length and occasional bunkering invite careful course management rather than raw power.

Lake Padden’s layout is straightforward yet engaging. Players will encounter a blend of short par 4s encouraging precision and longer holes where distance off the tee proves useful. Water does not dominate the course but appears as a scenic backdrop on a few holes, notably the holes adjacent to the lake shore, where the wind becomes a subtle opponent. These conditions reward golfers who take the time to read the landscape and adjust their play accordingly.

Operated as a public facility, Lake Padden offers a welcoming environment and is maintained with care that is evident in the quality of its surfaces. The clubhouse provides basic amenities typical of municipal courses, including a pro shop and practice areas suited to warming up or honing specific skills.

Visitors should anticipate a leisurely round, as reported pace of play can vary significantly, so scheduling time accordingly is wise. Walking is supported, though the terrain is best navigated with sturdy footwear prepared for occasional slopes and natural grassy patches.

For those seeking a round that combines peaceful surroundings with reliable playing conditions and a fair test of golf, Lake Padden stands out in the Central Puget Sound region as a solid destination worth exploring.

The golf course offers a picturesque and enjoyable round with well-maintained fairways and greens. The diverse layout features a mix of challenging and accessible holes, catering to golfers of all skill levels. The stunning natural landscape enhances the overall experience, and the friendly staff contribute to a relaxed atmosphere. However, the pace of play was slow, and there was no ranger on staff to help expedite the game. Despite this, the long and varied layout provides a rewarding challenge for golfers looking to test their skills while appreciating the beauty of their surroundings. It’s an excellent choice for both local players and visitors seeking a memorable golfing experience, provided they’re prepared for a leisurely round.

Really enjoyable course and greens were in lot better condition than was expected, fair play to the green keepers for sorting them out. Pace of play was good.

Great course! Well laid out and maintained. Unfortunately, the pace of play is extremely slow. Today three of us for 18 holes took four hours and 45 minutes. No Marshall insight until the 16th hole. We sat with a backup of three groups in front of us. The time in between tee times is way too short and no one regulates when people tee off. While the course is great You had better plan to have At least five hours and be prepared to do a lot of waiting in between Very frustrating. And unfortunately, this is not the first day that we have encountered this.

Nice huge leave surrounded by a wailing trail. There are plenty of inlets to picnic some with tables some you can add a hammock. There is a beach area sectioned off for swimming sand grass trees with shade or without. They also have restrooms that are clean sand well maintained. You can kayak or paddle board here to o. I’m not sure about small boats we didn’t see any.
