Woodlands Golf Course
Woodlands Golf Course in Sunriver, Oregon, offers an engaging 18-hole parkland layout accented by forested fairways and subtle elevation changes. Players of all skill levels will find a thoughtful test that blends natural beauty with approachable playability.
Course Overview
Woodlands Golf Course presents a compelling blend of natural beauty and thoughtful design, offering an 18-hole layout that demands both strategy and finesse. Located along W Core Road in Sunriver, Oregon, this semi-private course integrates the rugged Pacific Northwest landscape with subtle residential touches, a combination that creates a diverse playing experience. With tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and a backdrop that occasionally reveals views of Mt. Bachelor, Woodlands challenges players to consider every shot carefully while remaining accessible to a wide range of skill levels.
From the opening tee, the course unfolds through mature forests and gentle elevation changes. Fairways are generally forgiving but reward accuracy, as the rough can grow thick and interfere with recovery shots. Greens at Woodlands show a balance of subtle breaks and firm surfaces, encouraging golfers to focus on their approach and putting touch. The layout leans toward a parkland style with hints of Pacific Northwest woodland, giving players moments of calm interspersed with holes that test their precision and distance control. While some holes are protected by bunkers, the course does not overwhelm low handicappers, and the thoughtful routing allows less experienced golfers to enjoy a fair and engaging round.
Woodlands’ location within the Sunriver community adds a layer of convenience and charm, with a clubhouse that serves as a gathering spot for members and guests. The staff is frequently commended for their helpfulness and professionalism, contributing to an inviting atmosphere. Walking is encouraged, with cart availability upon request; golfers are advised to wear sturdy footwear due to some uneven terrain and natural debris.
The course plays seasonally and can be impacted by weather, particularly in the late fall and winter months when Oregon’s rain softens the turf and greens require close attention. Woodlands remains a notable destination within Central Oregon’s golf venues, ideal for those seeking a matured, multi-dimensional golf experience where the surroundings quietly test every aspect of one’s game without sacrificing enjoyment.

A beautiful course in a beautiful place! We were fortunate to stay in an Air BnB right on the course. We came out and played a few holes. Course was in great shape for rainy mid November in Oregon. What a beautiful place.

Always been a tradition for our large family gathering to stay at Sunriver and the dads go golfing together. We loved Woodlands but this privatizing has put an end to that. Really disappointing. I’m sure they will only have to raise the prices more to compensate for the lack of play on the course. Way to ruin a good thing!

This is the first year I joined the Sunriver golf club, which gives me access to both the Meadows and Woodlands golf courses. Woodlands is 5-Star, from the layout, the condition of the course, the beauty, and especially the staff. After 8 rounds at Sunrive this season I find it hard to believe anyone would have an issue with the staff (few reviews do). I've encountered 12 individuals that work at both courses and all are super friendly, courteous, and very helpful. A great atmosphere! This updated after 50 plus rounds and a complete season playing Woodlands. Everyone, I mean everyone is super friendly. From the staff in the shop to the cart guys all are super friendly. The course is always in great shape, greens are pure and the fairways are perfection. The course is challenging with most of the holes bunker protected, many of the holes do require perfectly placed drives. Even though most of the course is lined with homes it still has as the woodise feel. The back nine has 2 or 3 holes with views of Mt Bachelor.

We have been playing Woodlands for the last 20 years and it's true that it has been a hidden gem. However, if you haven't heard, this year they semi-privatized the coarse, making the course more expensive to play. I was disappointed this past July 4th week because the maintenance of the course is not what it used to be. The greens are sandy and no longer pristine. The rough along the fairway and around the greens are deep and not maintained. I sure hope they can afford to make this course great again in the future.
