Quail Run Golf Course

La Pine, Oregon, USACentral Oregon

Quail Run Golf Course presents an approachable yet intriguing 18-hole layout set amid Central Oregon’s distinctive high desert terrain. Known for its excellent conditioning and inviting atmosphere, this course offers a satisfying test for golfers seeking a balanced mountain-style challenge.

Course Overview

Quail Run Golf Course offers a refreshing 18-hole challenge in the heart of Central Oregon’s high desert landscape. Located at 16725 Northridge Drive in La Pine, this public course strikes a thoughtful balance between playability and subtle challenge, accommodating golfers of all skill levels who seek a compelling round away from the bustle of larger resort destinations.

The layout unfolds across gently rolling terrain peppered with stands of pine and scattered juniper, providing an inviting blend of natural beauty and strategic golf. Fairways are generous but demand accuracy when they bend around tree clusters or descend toward well-guarded greens. Approaches often require a keen eye and shot-shaping ability to avoid the course’s cleverly placed bunkers, which test both distance control and direction.

Conditioning at Quail Run is a standout feature, with well-manicured fairways and smooth greens maintained year-round by a dedicated grounds crew. The course also benefits from a grass driving range, allowing players to warm up comfortably before teeing off. The pro shop’s friendly and attentive staff contributes to the welcoming atmosphere, reflecting a local pride that elevates the entire experience.

For those planning their visit, walking is encouraged and practical, as the course’s moderate elevation changes and smooth turf make for an enjoyable trek. Players will want to bring layered clothing, as Central Oregon’s weather can shift throughout the day, especially during shoulder seasons. Tee times are easy to secure via phone or walk-up, with staff emphasizing a relaxed yet orderly pace of play.

Quail Run’s setting offers more than golf. The surrounding high desert backdrop features panoramic views of distant cascades and a quiet, open sky that frames each hole with a sense of calm and focus. This course pairs the pleasure of a well-designed mountain-style golf experience with the sense of community found in a smaller, locally operated venue. It is an ideal choice for travelers seeking a genuine taste of Oregon golf beyond the expected hotspots.

Best golf course in Central Oregon by far. The snack bar staff were so friendly and made the best hot dogs I’ve ever had! We’ll be back next year for sure!

My only complaint (not really a complaint) is that this “secret gem” of a golf course is not such a secret anymore 😉. Love to see this course get the recognition in central Oregon that it deserves. Course is challenging but fair (as long as you stay out of the trees 😉). Do yourself a favor and forget about those courses in Bend. Quail run is all you need for a perfect central Oregon golf experience!

Played this course for the first time this past week and it was a wonderful experience. The owner was working the counter and was very helpful and welcoming. The marshal was very good about checking in and maintaining good flow while being friendly and polite. the course conditions were great. I will really try to play again when in the area. As a business owner it was refreshing to see the owner working with customers and i feel that is a great way to maintain a good connection with the public.

Beautiful course and a great crew running it. Clean tee boxes and excellent greens. Worth every dollar and the pro shop was also a bright spot. Awesome bloody Marys! Enjoy the 18 holes and relaxing setting.
