Course Overview
Windy Knoll Golf Club offers a compelling blend of challenge and charm for golfers seeking a thoughtfully maintained links-style course in Springfield, Ohio. This 18-hole layout stretches across gently undulating terrain that opens to expansive vistas, where firm fairways and strategic elevation changes encourage careful shot placement. The course’s defining characteristic is the steady Ohio breeze that sweeps through the grounds, adding a layer of complexity to every shot and living up to the club’s name by testing club selection and shot execution throughout the round.
Designed with a straightforward and player-friendly approach, Windy Knoll presents a demanding but fair test suitable for mid to low handicappers while remaining accessible to enthusiastic amateurs. Fairways run relatively flat but are bordered by tall, thick grass that captures wandering balls, urging controlled accuracy off the tee. The greens, noted for smooth and consistent rolls, reward deft touch but remain receptive to a variety of shot shapes, enhancing the strategic nature of the course.
Water hazards and well-placed bunkers punctuate the route, forcing golfers to weigh risk and reward, especially when the winds increase in intensity. A handful of longer holes stretch the yardage, stretching stamina and club management, while shorter par 3s offer precision challenges. The season and weather patterns have a clear impact here, making timing an important factor when planning a visit.
The clubhouse sits comfortably by the first tee, providing a welcoming atmosphere with attentive staff who prioritize member and guest satisfaction. Walking is encouraged across the course’s manageable topography, with firm ground ideal for comfortable shoes and steady footing. Golf carts are available but optional, allowing players to tailor their experience. Windy Knoll’s distinct character demands respect from the golfer’s game but rewards those who embrace its conditions and layout with an engaging, memorable round under open skies.

Overall the course is in great shape. Not 1 trap was playable, " MUDHOLE ". The layout was good with medium length rough, well groomed fairways, and nice maintained greens. Make sure you keep your ball inside the hole your playing. Lots of very tall grass and water to avoid.

This course is amazing and for the price on golf now it is unbeatable. The course is a links type course with long flat holes and they play very long when it is windy as the name implies Staff is very friendly, I made a reservation for the wrong day and prepaid and they still let me play. Great course

Great day. Course in great shape. Staff friendly & courteous. Rough on some holes very knarly. Greens rolling smooth & consistent even though grass still somewhat brown. Greens not holding approach shots yet. Fairways cut nicely.

Beautiful venue but unfortunately it seems that there's been a lack of maintenance recently. The ac was not working properly and made for a very HOT wedding e reception.
