Tijeras Arroyo Golf Course
Tijeras Arroyo Golf Course offers an accessible 18-hole public layout east of Albuquerque. Featuring a parkland-style design set against Southwestern terrain, it welcomes golfers of all levels with wide fairways, receptive greens, and a casual, friendly atmosphere.
Course Overview
Situated just east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tijeras Arroyo Golf Course offers an approachable, 18-hole public layout that blends natural desert terrain with wide, forgiving fairways. Its parkland-style design provides a straightforward but enjoyable test for players of all skill levels, with a particular emphasis on those newer to the game or seeking a relaxed round away from heavy course traffic. The course’s environment captures the Southwestern landscape through subtle changes in elevation, arid grasses, and native desert flora that frame each hole without overwhelming the player’s focus.
Though maintenance levels have varied over time, the greens remain largely true and receptive, rewarding well-placed approach shots. Fairways are generous and provide ample room for miss-hits, creating an inviting experience for beginners and mid-handicap golfers looking to build confidence. The front nine flows smoothly through gently rolling terrain, while the back nine introduces slightly more contour and careful shot placement around natural obstacles.
Tijeras Arroyo serves the local community not only as a golf venue but also as a social gathering hub. The clubhouse includes basic amenities such as a pro shop and a casual dining area, where players can enjoy reasonably priced meals after their rounds. The presence of an indoor golf simulator offers year-round practice opportunities regardless of weather conditions.
Walking the course is encouraged, with flat stretches interspersed among more rugged spots, though sturdy shoes are recommended given the occasional rocky patches. Golf carts are available, but many players find the walk both refreshing and manageable. The friendly staff fosters a welcoming atmosphere, creating a sense of ease that suits individuals and families alike.
While Tijeras Arroyo may not boast high-end resort features or extensive landscaping, its straightforward design and approachable playability make it a solid choice for golfers seeking a leisurely round with a touch of Southwestern character not far from Albuquerque.

Beautiful course! Great for beginners or those who want an easier challenge. I enjoyed playing the front 9 with no one behind or in front of me the entire time, that's always the best! Excited to play here next time!

Came here for lunch. Tuesdays are a great $8 spaghetti special. Great menu, and great staff. Update: Another lunch visit. Ordered the club sandwich with fries this time. Food was made fresh and came out promptly!

Terrible course!! Nothing is maintained!! Only reason I’ve been coming here is because NO ONE comes here, as a beginner it’s nice not having to worry about people rushing you. Customer service is subpar, minus Jay, he is probably the coolest dude there but I have witnessed him get into an argument with a customer for something petty. The heavier set lady complains and complains about carts being back we were not even a minute late returning the cart and we were the only people on the course! That was the last straw not spending another dime here.
