Course Overview

Greenbriar Oceanaire Community & Golf Course offers an inviting 18-hole layout set on the gently rolling terrain of Waretown, New Jersey. This public course provides a balanced playing experience framed by lush fairways that flow beside natural wetlands and residential areas, creating a quiet retreat without straying far from the Atlantic coastline. The course’s style leans toward a parkland feel, punctuated with water hazards and thoughtfully placed bunkers that test accuracy without overwhelming the average player.

While scoring opportunities exist, Greenbriar Oceanaire challenges golfers to manage their approach shots carefully, particularly on the back nine where the holes tighten and the greens become more contoured. The variety of hole lengths accommodate a diverse range of handicaps, making the course approachable for beginners and rewarding for more experienced golfers looking to sharpen their mid-iron game. The layout encourages strategic play; golfers will find that wind off nearby Barnegat Bay occasionally shifts their club selection and shot shape—adding an ever-changing element to each round.

Golf cart rentals are available, though many players take advantage of the course’s pedestrian-friendly design to walk and engage more deeply with the surroundings. The course’s maintenance reflects diligent care, with greens typically smooth and fairways well-manicured throughout the season.

Located just minutes from Long Beach Island and Barnegat Lighthouse, Greenbriar Oceanaire blends coastal charm with a practical layout that invites repeat visits. Attended a car show at Greenbriar with our British Car Club. I am on the right side with the club president and my 1999 Jag XK-8 In British Racing Green. Other than the car show I didn’t experience much of the club but it looked beautiful. The hosts were very accommodating.

We hosted my family at the restaurant (6 adults and 3 kids) all of whom enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The menu had a large selection and was very reasonably priced and portions were huge! Our server, Sarah, was very attentive and efficient.

Visited a relative who lives there. The place is beautiful and has lots of amenities. This photograph was taken off-grounds looking across Barnegat Bay (close by) showing Long Beach Island State Park on left and Barnegat Lighthouse on right.
