Course Overview

Ocean Acres Country Club offers an 18-hole experience tailored to golfers seeking an approachable layout within a relaxed coastal environment. Located in Manahawkin, New Jersey, this public course presents a traditional parkland design where wide fairways and accessible greens create an inviting setting for players across all skill levels. The terrain is generally flat, framed by natural vegetation, with occasional water hazards and well-positioned bunkers that add strategic interest without overwhelming less experienced golfers.

The course plays to a par of 72 and extends over 6,400 yards from the back tees, providing a solid test while remaining fair for higher handicaps. Its straightforward design allows players to focus on shotmaking rather than confronting punishing hazards or overly complex green complexes. Several holes wind gently around ponds and wetlands, contributing subtle challenges and visual variety, especially on the back nine.

Ocean Acres balances playability with a casual atmosphere, making it a popular choice for locals and visiting golfers seeking value combined with enjoyment. The greens are typically large and receptive, although maintenance and pace of play can vary, particularly during busy periods. The staff maintains a welcoming environment, enhancing the overall experience despite some common frustrations reported around slow rounds and inconsistent upkeep.

Amenities include a clubhouse with a pro shop and a bar that serves as a gathering spot after rounds; however, it is worth noting that hours may be limited early in the season. Walking is welcomed, with a flat course profile lending itself well to those who prefer to move on foot. Golf carts are available but not mandatory.

For golfers prepared to navigate some operational challenges, Ocean Acres Country Club offers an affordable outing that blends traditional New Jersey coastal plain golf with relaxed hospitality. Its layout encourages steady play and rewards shot placement, making it a solid option for casual rounds among friends or a pleasant introduction for newcomers expanding their game.

Planning your visit during less crowded weekday mornings or afternoons may enhance enjoyment and reduce wait times. Proper golf shoes are recommended, and players should be patient with the pace of play as they take in the quietly scenic route from tee to green.

I love playing this course and have made it my new home course. Staff have always been amazing and the prices are reasonable. Only complaint is that the bar closes early on Saturdays (it is still early in the season) and that the pace of play can be a little slow at times. Other than that this is the best course for the money in my area!

Awful , continue to pay full price just to stand on tee boxes for 20 min, the ranger does not help or push people along , way over priced for subpar experience. Fairway grass it to long , not kept up properly for a course that’s charging almost as much as LBI national which blows this course out of the water. Be prepared to over pay for a 530-6 hour round of golf

Ocean Acres Country Club is a solid course…well-kept greens, friendly staff, and a nice layout that’s enjoyable for all skill levels. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how backed up the course gets. Even on a weekday morning with plenty of tee times available, we found ourselves logjammed for most of the round. It would really improve the experience if they spaced out the tee times a bit more like LBI National does to allow for a smoother pace of play. Really no reason to have a tee time every 6-8 mins. Otherwise, it’s definitely worth checking out For the money.

I was expecting a far less enjoyable experience after reading other reviews. But I was relieved and pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this course was. We had a great time and played incredible golf. The only complaint I would have is the pace of play. I noticed a ranger , but never seen him encouraging the group in front to speed it up a bit or even to stop taking 3 additional shots after topping the ball time after time. Overall a fun course , would definitely play here again !

Pace of play? None existent. Fairways? Sand and rocks Greens? Slow as molasses Layout has the potential to be something extraordinary, but lack of upkeep is what’s holding it back. Expensive pricing for a course in weak condition… this course is no more than $20. Hole 10 is the lone highlight in the current state. Would not recommend.

The course and facilities could use some TLC. Pace of play was 5+ hours. Great potential, just need to address the upkeep and maintenance.
