Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private parkland course just outside Edison, New Jersey. Known for its mature trees, rolling terrain, and challenging yet approachable design, it provides a rewarding experience for golfers of all skill levels.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole championship layout located just outside Edison in Central New Jersey. As a private facility, it delivers a classic parkland experience marked by mature tree-lined fairways, gently rolling terrain, and well-bunkered greens that demand precise shot-making. The course challenges players with a variety of tee options to suit a broad range of abilities, making it accessible for those honing their skills while still rewarding low handicappers with strategic risk-reward opportunities.

From the first tee, the course’s subtle undulations come into view, framing holes that blend thoughtful design with natural landscape contours. The fairways are often bordered by hardwoods, creating measurable corridors that invite intelligent play. Bunkers are placed not simply as obstacles but as careful guardians of the landing zones and putting surfaces, especially on par 4s and reachable par 5s where positioning the ball can set up scoring chances or punish errant shots.

The rolling hills amplify the playability and scenic qualities, encouraging players to consider trajectory and distance control, especially on windier days when the elements influence shot selection. Greens at Plainfield Country Club are known for their smoothness and subtle breaks; reading these with care can make the difference between pars and birdies.

Off the course, the clubhouse provides a refined setting for members, featuring dining and event spaces that overlook the course. The club’s walking-friendly policy promotes a quieter pace and closer connection to the surroundings, with advice to wear proper footwear due to varied footing and gentle slopes throughout the layout.

Visiting members and their guests can expect a meticulously maintained playing surface, complemented by efficient tee time management. Whether preparing for competition or enjoying a leisurely round, Plainfield Country Club offers a traditional golf experience shaped by attention to detail and a respect for its established landscape.

Course Highlights

Distinctive for its classic parkland style with hardwood-lined fairways and well-protected greens, the course challenges strategy over brute distance. The rolling hills and carefully placed bunkers require precise drives and thoughtful approaches, while the clubhouse offers a welcoming environment combining tradition with relaxed luxury.

We feel hot all the time in the party because the air conditioner is too weak. Also, the speakers are old and the sound is bad. It should be changed. Otherwise, everything is good.

I've done a couple of floral events there. Now I clean a couple of houses in Maison du Luc! As well as 3 others in the club.

I would recommend this place to anyone that’s planning any event. I had my wedding here back on 10/1/22 and if I could do it all over again, I would. Kennedy was a delight to work with. Everything was perfect.

I had my wedding in June of this year, this place is beautiful but the issue I had with this venue was the food, the food we ordered and paid for was not fully cooked and the food had no type of seasoning. It was awful. I was so embarrassed having to hear about how bad the food was from my guests. What we tried beforehand was nothing like what we received on the day of my wedding. I also didn’t like the fact that my contract said I had the place till 11:45 (initially I was told 12) but my family and I were being rushed out at 10. A worker from this venue even picked up my foam lights from the table and took it away so my guests couldn’t enjoy them. Also, where the drinks were stationed were little puddles of water, my family and my wedding coordinator were the ones that had to clean it up because the workers did not even come back to clean it up when they were told about it. I saw this with my own eyes. I’m not sure if this is true but I’ve been told by some guests that they overheard some workers talking about turning the air off in order to get us out of the venue at around 8 I believe. It was very hot during the reception but I am unsure if I was just hot because I was dancing but the older people who just sat and enjoyed their time sitting around talking mentioned it was very hot even though they didn’t do much moving.

Attended a wedding last night and enjoyed the climate and atmosphere of the place. The warm feeling sure made the wedding spectacular. I look forward to any other events there that I am invited to.
