Course Overview
Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience just outside Edison, New Jersey, within the Central New Jersey golf region. The course presents a classic parkland layout, where mature trees and gently rolling terrain influence both strategy and shot selection throughout the round. Fairways are generous yet require thoughtful placement, especially when navigating bends that create natural angles toward well-protected greens. These greens are subtly contoured, rewarding confident approach shots while offering challenging reads for putts that test touch and precision.
The setting is distinctly peaceful, with a blend of woodland views and open spaces that shape the character of each hole. Golfers will find the course approachable for a broad spectrum of skill levels, offering multiple tee boxes that adjust yardage and difficulty effectively. This design ensures that both mid-handicappers and low handicappers find suitable challenges without compromising pace of play.
At 7,000 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, the course demands an accurate driving game and a steady short game to score well. Key holes include the uphill par-4 6th, where an elevated green framed by mature oaks requires precise distance control, and the par-3 12th, which plays over a serene water hazard and tests club selection under variable winds.
The clubhouse provides a refined yet welcoming atmosphere, with locker rooms, dining options, and event spaces that blend tradition with modern comfort. While Plainfield operates on a members-only basis, the club’s policies encourage a strong community focus, with member-sponsored guest play allowed under specific guidelines.
Walkers will appreciate the course’s moderate elevation changes and well-maintained cart paths that support a smooth rhythm. Footwear with good traction is recommended, particularly in wetter months when morning dew lingers on the grass.
Plainfield Country Club invites discerning golfers seeking a thoughtfully maintained, classic test of golf. Its measured challenges and tranquil environment make each round rewarding without overwhelming, striking a balance that honors the game’s enduring traditions.
Course Highlights
Plainfield Country Club features a traditional parkland layout characterized by mature hardwoods, rolling fairways, and strategically placed bunkers that challenge approach shots. The elevated par-4 6th hole demands accuracy and distance control, while the water hazard guarding the 12th par-3 tests both nerve and club selection. The course strikes a careful balance between playability and strategic complexity, reflecting classic Northeastern club design ideals.

We played at the Catalina course, s a PGA Tour course, 😄 it's really difficult but a lot of fun. The difficulty of this course contains 2 elements, first, each hole is 20+% further than normal course, so it cost you 1 more hit in average to get on the green; second, the greens, fast and lots of minor but leathal streaks that you need to pay a lot attention to read it. Love both Hole 🕳️⛳ 9 and 18, both have a pond at around 200+ yards, which is literally an examination of your driver accuracy; both the greens are fortress-like, which will cost you 20+yeads more to get on the greens. Really love Catalina A LOT !

A beautiful place all around ! 2x very nice 18-hole courses. Of course, the Senior PGA is played here, so it's fun to place a course you see on TV. But it's definitely one of the nicest places in town and worth a visit. Fun, interesting holes, a great staff, a nice driving range and putting/chipping areas, and a nice clubhouse add to the experience.
