Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club offers a classic 18-hole parkland layout set within Central New Jersey’s rolling hardwood terrain. This private championship course challenges golfers with well-defined fairways and strategic bunkering, all supported by a welcoming clubhouse and member-focused amenities.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club stands as a distinguished private 18-hole championship course located just outside Edison, New Jersey, within the heart of Central New Jersey's golfing landscape. This traditional parkland layout demands precision and thoughtful strategy from players of varying abilities, rewarding careful shot placement amid mature hardwoods and gently rolling terrain.

From the moment players approach the clubhouse on Woodland Avenue, the sense of an established golfing tradition is evident. The course extends over approximately 6,700 yards, featuring a par of 72. Its tree-lined fairways create defined corridors that challenge both accuracy and distance control, while well-positioned bunkers protect many of the greens, inviting players to consider where they land each tee shot carefully.

The routing flows naturally through a landscape that balances challenge with approachability. Moderate elevation changes provide visual interest without excessive punishment, allowing players to focus on shot-making and course management. This design creates an enjoyable experience for mid to low handicappers, while also remaining accessible enough for higher handicaps to find rhythm and success.

Several holes stand out by blending classic parkland beauty with strategic demands, encouraging golfers to shape their shots and assess risk versus reward. The greens are smooth and receptive but require attentive reading under varying light and wind conditions common to the New Jersey climate.

Amenities include a well-appointed clubhouse serving as a central hub for members, offering dining and event spaces that reinforce the club’s community atmosphere. The course supports walking with gentle terrain and offers cart availability on request, appealing to those who prefer traditional, foot-powered rounds as well as those seeking convenience.

For visiting golfers fortunate enough to access this members-only venue, planning ahead is essential. The club maintains a firm reservation policy and encourages appropriate attire consistent with its private status. Playing Plainfield Country Club is a chance to engage with a classic New Jersey golfing experience where natural landscape and design precision meet to create an enduring challenge and quiet enjoyment.

Course Highlights

The course showcases classic parkland characteristics with mature hardwoods lining fairways and strategic bunkers guarding elevated, receptive greens. Been members in Truckee at the cabins for a long time and went on 02/25.2024 and encountered probably the rudest bartender I’ve ever met and I live in reno. Don’t know her name because she wouldn’t tell us but wears a bull ring with tattoos all over both arms. Really makes the place look terrible when you have a person that ruins what a great place North Star is. Other families made comments about her too and they didn’t even get served by her. Hope you guys can do better or at least pay attention to hiring people that like their job.

This is the worst club we’ve ever joined. We joined for our 4 kids to enjoy summer as a local Tahoe family. They charge a massive initiation fee, then you get to pay for a summer membership of over 1k for the months they’re not even running the pool at 100%. Again today on a sunny day they’re not running the pool for kids. Absolutely the worst investment we’ve ever made for our kids. We could stay at a local hotel and play at the pool with a slide for the same price for a week. On a different note, the staff at the pool and front desk are very kind so don’t take the upper managements issues out on them.

Great, caring staff, amazing atmosphere, good food and awesome pools!! Reserve your pool time slot in advance. However, we called an hour before and they got us right in. All in all, well worth the membership!!
