Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers a distinguished private golf experience just beyond Edison, New Jersey, combining classic parkland design with a layout that challenges and rewards players across all skill levels. With 18 meticulously maintained holes set amid gently rolling terrain, this course presents a refined blend of strategy and natural beauty that appeals to both devoted low handicappers and those seeking an engaging round in a serene setting.

The course’s green complexes are guarded by well-positioned bunkers and subtle elevation shifts that require thoughtful shot placement, especially as approach shots must navigate the often-tricky slopes that frame the putting surfaces. Water hazards come into play selectively, lending risk-reward decisions without overwhelming the layout’s flow. The tree-lined fairways add a measured sense of intimacy to the holes, fostering a quiet atmosphere interrupted only by the rhythm of a well-struck drive or the roll of a putt.

Plainfield Country Club’s terrain is characteristic of a traditional parkland layout, where manicured fairways and lush rough coexist with natural woodlands and small wetlands. This integration creates visual appeal without compromising playability or pace of play. The course’s conditioning remains consistently sharp throughout the season, supported by a dedicated grounds crew focused on optimal turf health and green speed.

The clubhouse stands as a welcoming hub featuring classic architectural details and modern amenities, including a fully equipped pro shop and dining facilities that extend hospitality beyond the fairways. Walking the course is encouraged and enjoyable, with well-maintained cart paths offering optional support for those who prefer. The gentle topography means that golfers can anticipate a comfortable walking experience with minimal strain.

Targeted primarily at members and their guests, Plainfield Country Club balances tradition and contemporary golf demands with an accessible design that invites thoughtful play rather than brute power. Whether preparing for a competitive round or enjoying a casual outing, the course provides a reliable test of golf intertwined with a calm and focused atmosphere within Central New Jersey’s golfing landscape.

This place is a not only top notch with the best of service, but it was literally like I was playing golf inside a portrait. Words can't describe how beautiful this experience was. On top of that the chicken pita they delivered to me on the course might have been the best I've ever had. Went 2 days in a row and loved it.

Phenomenal golf course with terrific views and hardly any people. Nice club with good food and attentive guest service. New pool with infinity edge and amazing views of Snake River and the mountains. Club still has a long way to go to finish out all amenities but it is a great start.

We stayed here about a week ago and the experience was very much mixed. The location is about 30 minutes from town. On our first night we werent told that the restaurant would be closed until dinner time. The receptionist told us to try the pool grill which was still open. We arrived at 7:01 they told us they closed one minute ago. Even though the grill was still going and they were throwing on burgers at 7:10 they could not accommodate us. While puzzling this would be fine except for the indifference and inflexibility of the attitude of the pool manager Sebastian. Look this isnt a FS or an Aman, but I think they at least aspire to be an above average hotel. This encounter was probably one of the top 3 most belligerent / unhelpful conversations I have ever had. So anyone booking here should manage your expectations accordingly. The question may be why give it 3 stars instead of 0... The night was partially redeemed by the Sylvan Lodge front desk manager who helped us find an option for dinner. Bottom line service is wildly uneven across departments.

You may wanna replace the driver who rode me and others on highway 89. Driving fast and tail gating people while in a company vehicle isn’t the smartest idea. Have a chat with this bearded fellow.

Had a great time visiting friends. Location isn't on Google, so it's hard to find. Went for a walk on the trails towards the river, and found remnants of a Trumpeter Swan that had been scavenged by some coyotes. Developer doesn't seem concerned about preserving endangered species habitat. The quality of the home construction left something to be desired: leaky ceilings, mismatched and damaged artwork.
