Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private golf experience located just minutes from Edison, New Jersey. This classic championship layout unfolds across a mature, parkland setting where broad fairways intersect with well-placed bunkers and strategic water hazards. The course’s rolling terrain is framed by stands of oak and maple trees that quietly shape each hole and provide a steady rhythm to the round. Its design balances challenge and playability, inviting golfers of various skill levels to engage with its thoughtful layout.

At approximately 6,700 yards from the back tees and playing to a par of 71, the course demands precision as well as strategic thought. Several holes require keen shot placement to navigate the interplay between trees and hazards, while others open up to longer, risk-reward drives. The greens showcase subtle undulations, rewarding accurate iron play and reading the slopes well.

The setting offers a calm and refined atmosphere away from urban distractions. Seasonal changes bring vibrant colors that enhance the visual appeal but also influence playing conditions from spring through fall. While it challenges low handicaps with demanding approaches and tricky green complexes, the course remains accessible thanks to multiple tee boxes that cater to mid and higher handicaps.

Walking is encouraged on most days, giving players a chance to absorb the natural surroundings and varying course intricacies.

For players planning their visit, soft spikes are recommended, and early tee times are ideal for beating the afternoon winds that sometimes sweep across the course. Member invitation is necessary, and adherence to the club’s dress code maintains the refined character of the golf environment.

Guy at the desk thinks he works at bedminster. Cart they gave us died, and then the second one they gave us also died a few minutes later. Course is nothing special and nowhere on their website do they say alcohol is not permitted. If this were the only course available just don’t go going.

I’ve played the 9 hole course only. I drove an hour and 20 mins to play there. Reviews are good so I figured I’d give it a shot. The 9 hole course is a little weak for my game but I’m Sure it’s perfect for others. It’s great that they even have the option to have 27 holes. The actual 18hole course seems well maintained and great reviews on that too. I really only play by myself. It’s my escape from work all week. Most courses don’t let singles play and MUST pair them up. I seen a older lady playing the 18 by herself, so I’m praying that is the case because I play my best golf when I’m alone and focused. I’ve showed to many of courses alone pleading and praying I can play alone and sometimes it wasn’t even busy at all. Still, I would be paired with 3 others who are no where near my talent level. It’s like Tiger and me playing together. Makes no sense. I’m praying they let me do a single round myself- even if I have to make a reservation ahead of time or pay more. I just want to play alone. Overall- great experience and definitely coming back for than full course.

There logic of who can drive a golf cart is terrible u have to be 18 to drive one and a 17 year old who drove 40 minutes on the park way to get here can’t drive a golf cart in the open makes no sense u also have to pay to be a passenger and can not share clubs 0-10 will never go again

A very nice, condensed course that took my group of four about three hours to play all 18 holes with minor hood ups on about 3-4 holes that were welcome in the heat. There were a good amount of chips taken out of most of the Tee Boxes, but nothing that made negative impacts on our game. Make sure you get there at least 15 minutes early! We heard some guy getting an earful for being a few minutes late who was checking in behind us.

Rude staff, make up rules on the whim for who can use a golf cart on a 9 hole.
