Plainfield Country Club

Edison, New Jersey, USACentral New Jersey

Plainfield Country Club presents an 18-hole private parkland course that harmonizes precision and approachable challenge. With mature woodlands and strategic bunkering, it offers a thoughtful test suited for a range of skill levels within a serene Central New Jersey setting.

Course Overview

Plainfield Country Club offers an 18-hole private championship course located just outside Edison, New Jersey, providing a disciplined yet inviting challenge for golfers of varied abilities. The course is a classic parkland design, where mature hardwoods and well-manicured fairways frame each hole, creating a calm, focused environment that emphasizes shot precision over brute distance. The rolling terrain gently shapes the layout, introducing subtle elevation changes that reward carefully placed shots and test club selection throughout the round.

Players encounter a variety of hole designs that blend strategic bunkering and thoughtfully contoured greens with natural landforms. Bunkers are strategically positioned to influence approach shots and risk-reward decision-making, while the greens demand attention with their nuanced breaks and varying speeds. The course maintains a balance that welcomes mid-handicap players but retains enough complexity to engage lower handicappers seeking to sharpen their skills.

Surrounding the layout, quiet wooded glades create a sense of seclusion despite proximity to suburban areas, while the clubhouse acts as a central retreat. The clubhouse offers an elegant gathering space with dining and locker room amenities designed to complement the playing experience. Members and guests have access to comprehensive practice facilities including a driving range, short game area, and putting greens, crucial for warming up or honing specific skills before hitting the first tee.

Walking the course is encouraged, with well-maintained cart paths available and firm turf that holds up well throughout the seasons. Proper footwear enhances comfort on the gentle slopes and variable turf conditions. Seasonal playability is reliable thanks to diligent course maintenance, though spring and fall offer optimal conditions before the summer heat intensifies.

Plainfield Country Club balances tradition and challenge within the Central New Jersey golf scene. Its inviting layout and quiet setting make it a thoughtful choice for golfers seeking a private venue where course management and shot-making are rewarded equally. The club fosters an environment that nurtures skill development while allowing players to enjoy the nuances of a timeless design in a refined setting.

I came here to have a good time with my friends, and it was fun with the difficult and relatively fast greens that lived up to its reputation, but the management seemed a bit disappointing. There was a repair area, and there was also repair grass around the greens, which was disappointing. Since it is an 18-hole course, it can't be helped if you keep playing the course, but it was a bit disappointing, and our caddy is a friend who works a second job as a real estate agent, so he focused more on introducing the houses around the course than introducing the course, which made us a bit embarrassed, and when he cleaned the ball or passed the ball, he passed it with his foot, which made us a bit embarrassed.

Eric Moore was incredibly helpful in getting us off the tee sooner than expected, offering to caddie and making us feel welcome. His service was top notch & very appreciated. Adam Cook was also very kind and took great care of us. Once on the course, our caddie Curtis was also phenomenal. He helped us immensely with an elite level of caddying. These guys were incredible and made our already great day even better!!! Outstanding track with stellar greens and gorgeous territorial views as well!

Fun spot, great views, and a lot of tees to choose from so certainly can be an enjoyable experience for all different kinds of golfers. Forecaddies are high quality, like Brandon who we had, and improve the experience greatly.

Th Course is in great shape. It is a fun track. When you stay at the resort you must have a fore caddie. We had Tyler. He was especially great at reading putts. He is a super guy. We really enjoyed him. My husband and I played twice while staying at the resort. The $330 green fees when you are paying a resort fee of $65 a day and a room charge of $600+ per night for a room is too high, especially when hole 15 was closed both days. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The practice area is one of the best I’ve ever used.
